Hey lovely members of SIA. I'm here with a somewhat heartfelt, personal message this time around. A very difficult week has kind of brought this on.
I realize sometimes life is hard. Harder than you feel you can deal with sometimes. And thats okay. It happens to the best of us. But I dont want any of you to ever give up. I realize this sounds super corny, and it will only get worse, but thats really all there is to it. If you want the happy ending you've always dreamed of, some goal you truly desire, you can't sit around on your ass and hope it comes to you. Because it won't. I say this all because unfortunately, some people get scared and give up easily.
Times are trying for a lot of us right now. Be it work, college, family, all sorts of stress and issues. Maybe you came from a rough background; I did too. My father was one of those that rejected his child and eventually kicked me out at the age of 12 with my mother, and I spent a while drifting from place to place, just kind of on a string of homelessness. Did it suck? 'Course it did.
But it ended. Because I, just like my mother, remained strong because we knew it could only go up if we pushed hard enough. So thats what we did. I want that to serve as an example to all of you. Maybe you dont have a car or cant afford the bus daily to get to college? Get a bike if you can, and if you already have one, ride there. Same goes for work. There's no shame in showing up on a bike, it shows your true dedication to what you want to do, or what you already do. So what if you come across as poor? You're strong and respectable, and thats really all that matters, not some idiot's shallow first opinion of you.
If you really want that true happy ending you daydream about, work for it. Work your ass to the bone every single day until you get it. It wont be easy, and you may even struggle a lot more than others. But if you truly desire it and give it your all, you'll get there. Who knows how long it'll take, but I can promise you that when you get there, it'll be one of the single greatest feelings of your life. If you want, use me as an example. Despite all the rejection from family, being tossed aside and left homeless, and many other situations, I held my ground and things are greatly improving. I have a home, I attend school now, I even got with a girl I crushed on for 7 years, a girl I love with all of my heart. If I can do that before I even finish that road, imagine what you can do when you finish it?
So, members of SIA, guests, anyone who would read this. Get your ass out there and make me proud. Fight like hell and show me what you're made of. And if someone should need me, go for it. Everyone needs someone to catch them every once in a while, theres no shame in it.
