Yo, Poog here. I'm currently looking into something new and fun; a badge system. Think of it like merit badges, you do _______ and get ______ badge. I've put the system in for the sake of the example. It shows up on profiles and mini-profiles. For now, we have a badge for Takaki re-tweeting something of yours, but I can make plenty more (no I won't be making custom badges for people until a long while down the road). Ones I have in mind are for being helpful, winning the contests I plan to host, etc.
Now here's the problem. They stretch mini-profile backgrounds, which leads me to a change I've wanted to make for a while. I think mini profile backgrounds should go due to this and the fact that they make names, titles, etc harder to read, sometimes impossible depending on their background. Which is... not good, and frankly makes the site less visually pleasing.
So there's two options.
A) Keep the super hype badge system, get rid of mini-profile backgrounds. 150 x 150 avatars are still fine. It makes the site look better.
B) Get rid of the badge system, keep mini-profile backgrounds.
I personally think option A is best, as many of the mini profiles end up making things ugly, cluttered, and just a mess with things being hard to read. But I care about you guys and wanna hear your thoughts, so go for it. Vote away~
As I recall with this host you actually have to make a modification to the forums code to have larger avatars beyond 150x 150 and have an image url for it too. ~
Correct. And not having too much experience with code, admittedly I am a bit nervous about touching it, heheh.
That's understandable. It's only like 3 specific lines you have to make minor edits to though. "Proboards avatar size" should bring up how to resize the default avatars dimensions. If you're wanting to give it a try. ~
Yeah but the thing is you also have to edit to width of the miniprofiles too if I remember correctly and also the margin of posts so that text doesn't end up covering the profiles. You'd have to google it to find the 2 or 3 exact lines of code that would need to be adjusted. ~
