who seriously plays these games for the lore and "character development" anyways? if that stuff was relevant, Senran Kagura would have the mainstream already on board.
One Piece is juggling between COUNTRIES worth of more characters than Senran Kagura, and all the strawhats, allies and factions are still relevant and progressing.
Naruto introduced tons more ninjas and villages in less years. and it's own Konoha Village has more important and active ninja than SK's first 4 factions combined
and SK2 is a step backwards, a sequel that doesn't even design its plot to include new Shinovi teams, is taking steps backward. the designers didn't even know what the hell they were doing with SK2, they make the gameplay a hybrid mess, they have Yoma, and read it added a male character which the Japan fanbase immediately rejected and that was like adding a female player to the NBA.

3. too short stages
4. too few enemies
5. unbalanced bosses that force fighting them a certain way, which can only be done with exploit methods.
yea sure I didnt play SK2 Deep Crimson, but the Japanese fanbase have spoken, even the west have spoken.
the fact that there hasn't been a Senran Kagura game developed for 3DS since SK2 Deep Crimson, speaks volumes. SK team are OUTCASTS to the 3DS fanbase. they were forced to leave.
SK2 is trash and a disgrace to Shinobi and now Estival's standards.
why you think they even dared to make Peach Beach Splash exclusive to PS4? because of Estival's sales, positive reception and well rounded qualities, with even better multiplayer than Shinovi.
what really sells Senran Kagura is the character selection, artstyle, full 3D 360 combat, versus modes, of course story matters to a point, but it's filler compared to the overall gameplay side of things.
people dont need a deep reason to fight, most people just wanna get to the action, which goes for just about anything, even in anime:
of course Senran Kagura can have its character interactions, but they can be more effecient about things instead of being so ADHD they make some game that goes backwards or sideways, like I mean really, was the Senran Kagura Burst remake even necessary, considering how many times they already milked the first two factions' beginnings?
it's laughable SK team wants people to go shoulders deep with the story/lore, but they are still going part time with the musou genre that put Senran Kagura on the mainstream map.
and it's not like they have talented writers in the first place. I seen better cared for series with more meaningful plot.
heck, even Lady Ninja Kasumi was consistent with its multi part movie series.
Like really, look how many years Senran Kagura been around, it's been running in circles, keeling over and barely walking a few feet from its crib.
And being conceived from the idea of 3D boobs on 3DS, doesn't give its reputation a serious look. its a shame it isnt in better hands.
