I assume that Yumi’s story (because we know for a fact that she has her own story) will take place during Burst, but without involving anyone from Hanzō or Crimson. They did say it would show what Gessen was up to during the events of Burst, didn’t they? I don’t really see what’s the issue. Oh, and by the way, Re:Newal won’t be just a reskin of Estival Versus for a very simple reason that a lot of people have been overlooking: Orochi. Mind you, we’ve never had a giant yōma battle in a Versus game, and Deep Crimson is far too different as far as mechanics go to simply copy and paste the battle from there.

Hmmm... that's a good point, but will it be that hard to make it a reskin, then add the Orochi battle as a different way at the end? It's not as if it has a huge impact on the regular gameplay, iirc.

Oh, I didn't say that the rest of the game would have to be changed just because of Orochi, mind you. My point was mainly that the game is bound to have something new and different from Estival Versus. I was also thinking about some missions, such as the assault on Hebijo for both sides, or the optional, chapter 5 ones... Those missions likely wouldn't work in EV or SV-like maps, would they? Unless they intend you to run laps around the same locations while you're supposed to assault Hebijo Academy, they'd need to either expand the map or shorten the mission.

I at least meant with the 'reskin' mostly that it'll use the character models of EV, including all their animations/movesets etc. (except for, I'm guessing the particular special moves that they couldn't do yet then) With that in mind, I think adding a big boss doesn't really cause any qualms with using the same character models, animations and movesets. What are in those optional chapter 5 ones that wouldn't work well, though? I'm actually really curious how they'll translate the corridor structures of Burst into a full-on 3D world.

Let's see if I can properly convey my reasoning... While I haven't played Burst in a while, I remember that a lot of the later missions involve a lot of running around between waves of enemies. While the Versus games have that too, it's quite a bit different in how it feels like, and related to what you said. In Burst (and Deep Crimson, too) you have a linear corridor that is pretty much "get to point A and point B" in a linear path; as you progress, you go through different sceneries and places. In the Versus games, on the other hand, you have these open ended maps, that have to rely on artificial walls to make it feel like you're actually getting somewhere, but as far as I'm concerned, it just feels less rewarding and more annoying and limiting. There are a few exceptions to this, of course, such as the Hebijo Rooftop or the Shinobi Festival maps in EV, but neither are used as normal maps in Burst (Burst only uses the uppermost rooftop on Hebijo and it's just for boss battles).

Have you played Valkyrie Drive? I think that's a good showcase of maps in which you really move forward a lot in a 3D setting. I wonder if it'll feel more like VD than EV, actually, in that respect.

Now I can finally have a solid copy of this game! The original 3DS game is what got me into the series and I still think it is one of the best! I always recommend it to anyone wanting to get into the series, but not sure where to start. And now, it's getting some much needed love as an updated rerelease! WOO!
My only concern is that the stages will be shortened up a lot. My big gripe with the newer games is that the stages don't last nearly long enough. Just as I get a groove going, BAM, it's all over. Hopefully, this remake will retain the lengthy stage, and maybe I'll finally finish that last star mission! (CURSE YOU BATH STAGE WITH KATSUNEE BOSS ON HEBIJO'S SIDE!!!!!!!!)

So wait, what's the adventure part? Or do they divide the corridor-style side scrolling part and a boss battle in two parts?

Now all we need is unique body types for the girls. Ryobi has no boobs but is said to have an impressive side yet continues to have the same butt like everybody else lol. Really hope it doesn't take too long for the West to get this, doubt I'll be be able to wait long.

So wait, what's the adventure part? Or do they divide the corridor-style side scrolling part and a boss battle in two parts? The adventure part is where it has characters on screen with text like in the second video posted. The novel part is where there is text with static backgrounds. The action part is when you actually play the game. So no dividing the missions into two parts. The adventure part is probably called adventure now because it isn't static like a visual novel and has camera movement and stuff. Huh... Okay... So they don't divide the action part up but the VN because of moving character models..? I guess it explains it but that had me excited for nothing xD

If I'm not mistaken, the cutscenes have always been referred to as the "adventure part" in Japanese promo materials for this series. VD did it, too.

This thing isnt selling more than 10,000 units opening week. You can only rehash burst so many times. I dont see how he thought this was a good idea after SK2 and having multiple other games being made. It serves nothing other than to sell worse than dekamori.
