The reason for this post is a statement that Kenichiro Takaki (creator of Senran Kagura) himself made that was that he considered the handheld games, Burst and Deep Crimson, to be the main games of this series. This along with some other information has led the community to agree that Burst and Deep Crimson are on their own timeline, whereas the Versus series and Peach Beach is a separate timeline. As a remake for Burst is coming out on the PS4 next year, which may change up the story to make it more consistent with the versus world I thought I would draft up what I believe is the current timeline situation. Let me know what you think!
So here is my reasoning for this timeline:
{Reason 1}
In Deep Crimson, Yomi addresses Ikaruga as "Princess" for the majority of the game which is how her relationship was in Skirting Shadows at the very end of the game. She only starts to call Ikaruga by her name at about halfway through Deep Crimson, which would not make sense if Deep Crimson continued after the Crimson Girls storyline in Burst1. In Deep Crimson, Yomi addresses Ikaruga as "Princess" for the majority of the game which is how her relationship was in Skirting Shadows at the very end.
For better understanding, Senran Kagura Burst is a combination of Senran Kagura Skirting Shadows (Hanzo girls storyline) and Senran Kagura Crimson Girls (Hebijo Storyline).

There is a point in Shinovi Versus where Homura is informed by Hanzo that the mission of shinobi is to kill yoma, demons born from the bloodshed between shinobi clashes, and Homura is super astounded to hear this as she makes a claim that she has basically never really fought a yoma before, which lends to the fact that Shinovi and Estival Versus are on a seperate timeline from the DS games, but in Skirting Shadows, Homura is not said to expressly fight or even be cognizant about the whole Orochi incident so it's not impossible to say that Shinovi Versus follows the events of Skirting Shadows. Because as we know even though this is considered a separate timeline it is still stated that Homura and her crew are renegades, that Homura killed Dogen, and that they are all familiar with the Hanzo girls. So even if this game does not follow Skirting Shadows we can be sure that it follows events similar to the first game.

In Skirting Shadows there is a scene where Katsuragi finds her parents but chooses not to go and meet with them. In Shinovi Versus there is a scene nearly identical to this emphasizing the fact that these 2 situations happened in different timelines, but in Crimson Girls this scene does not happen so it is possible that Shinovi follows Crimson Girls especially since the girls of Hanzo and the Crimson Squad seem more tightly knit then they would have been at the end of Skirting Shadows. They are more friends at this point than rivals.
So far these are some of the larger points that I feel really justify where I stand on the idea of the Senran Kagura timeline let me know what you think or if there are some major holes here, as there is a ton of events and text and keeping track of all of it is really challenging. One last interesting food for thought that I would like your opinion on.
{The Title of Kagura}
So in Senran Kagura 2 Deep Crimson we are told that there is a 900 year old being that reawakens to fight and genocide all yoma before falling into a slumber for a number of years. This being is known as Kagura, a young child who is fed yoma energy pellets by her caretaker Naraku, in order to become her ultimate form that has the ability to even manipulate time and space. There is no other mention of Kagura being a title or something else until we get to Shinovi Versus where Kagura is instead a title and there is no mention that I have found of our 900 year old honey. We know all of this but in Estival Versus we are introduced to the new characters the Mikaruga sisters who claim to have been saved by young girl Kagura and believe that she died protecting them. Their whole motivation to assist Sayuri is to find Kagura in this land of the dead, but they are unable to find her as she is very alive and well. That is the info we get in the base game, in the DLC though if you pick Kagura you will see a diorama scene play out in the menu of the Mikaruga sisters seeing young Kagura in the distance, chasing after her past some rocks and then instead see fully grown Kagura levitating on the beach, so they look around bewildered. The point of me mentioning this is it lends to a theory I have that this is a different Kagura in this timeline who can change forms at will without the use of yoma energy to fuel the transformation. How this is possible I do not know but the evidence I have is this and the Peach Beach Splash intro where Asuka and Yumi spray fully grown Kagura and she reverts back to a child.
