Hey guys. I'm pretty anti-social and shy in real life. The only friends I really have are from the internet. So why not make more of them? I'm pretty much here for the same reasons you guys are here; to discuss about Senran Kagura and get different opinions. If I sound really boring, then I'm sorry. I'm not that good at stuff like this. Talk to me if ye' want. :3 Welcome to the community. Hope you feel welcome here !!!!

Hey folks, I've been lurking forever, and finally joined because I couldn't hold in a little diatribe I just posted, maybe wrongheadedly, on page 327 of the Senran Kagura Estival Versus General Discussion thread, but, I've wanted to participate more anyway, so I figure if I introduce myself I'll dive in further.
As far as details about me, I have a functional command of the Japanese language after studying it for years and then living in Shizuoka, Japan for a year. I'm an INFP, so basically the thoughtful and sensitive type with a bit of idealism mixed in, and besides videogames in general and games like this, Les Claypool, Shiina Ringo, and They Might Be Giants make me happy! はじめまして!

Aaah, someone familiar with the Briggs personality types and capable of Japanese. Maybe you can help with some projects for the community some time. I'm an ISTP, so you know what you can expect of me. Welcome aboard~

Welcome abord m8 - as Poog says, we got some community projects that could need some Japanese translating (and some personal ones, heh heh heh).
(Also, with this talk about Briggs, I somehow border on ISFP or INFP last time...I'm mostly leaning towards both, but that's just me)

Thank you guys, I couldn't feel more welcome already! This little community is pretty surprising! I love that so many of you actually know about the MBTI, and that is alone I think is a good indicator that you're dealing with people who are more thoughtful than ordinary. An ISTP, an ISFP/INFP, and an actual INFP! Amazing! Though Poog, if you're an ISTP, then we should just start fighting now... (DEFINATELY joking! I have a close friend who is an ISTP, but it's a pretty sparky relationship, which just makes it more hilarious. I am pretty averse to fighting.) And Theodos and Dilbert, if you guys are actual INFPs as well, you are practically mythical creatures in my book. They say INFPs are rare, and in my world that could be quite an understatement.
And yes, I'd love to be able to help or be more involved however! I wish I could claim fluency in Japanese, and since I've moved back from Japan I'm losing quick access to quite a bit of vocabulary, but, I'm happy to say that it seems to be surviving and still in there. I think that there is some amount of Japanese that I will never forget.

Hello and welcome to the forum. If you're wondering what my personality is as well, it's ESFP. I do admit that there are times where I'm quiet, but that's either due to my lack of knowledge ln the topic or it's because I don't know how to socialize with specific people. Particularly folks out of my age group. You can consider this selective socialism.
Either way, I'm a ESFP. Make yourself at home yo.

Oh wow... I didn't know that was still a thing... astrology is too of course so I guess that makes sense. XD
I didn't even know we had a central introduction thread. Traces back all the way to 2012, when the glorious SK dynasty had just begun...
So... how much value do you guys put in this stuff? Just curious!
Did a test on the internet though, said I was an INFP... now of course this doesn't mean everything but damn "INFPs are guided by their principles, rather than by logic (Analysts), excitement (Explorers), or practicality (Sentinels). When deciding how to move forward, they will look to honor, beauty, morality and virtue – INFPs are led by the purity of their intent, not rewards and punishments" That amost made me vomit xD
"they are considered gifted when it comes to learning a second (or third!) language"
I guess for Americans that's a thing, but I grew up in a bilingual area where practically everyone grows up learning both Frisian and Dutch, and as you can see I'm typing English, know a bit of German and a bit of French, and learning Japanese, but take out the Japanese and you have an average person from my area...
"like the flowers in spring, INFP’s affection, creativity, altruism and idealism will always come back, rewarding them and those they love perhaps not with logic and utility, but with a world view that inspires compassion, kindness and beauty wherever they go."
Oh dear... I think my academic career in Philosophy might not be the best choice anymore...

Traces back all the way to 2012, when the glorious SK dynasty had just begun... So... how much value do you guys put in this stuff? Just curious! Hahaha, people love to accuse the MBTI of being like zodiacs and so forth, and though it seems like it would have to be impossible to be empirical, the thing is, it's consistent. You get a consistent picture of a type of person along certain attributes that are general enough that they don't have say everything about you. You could argue that your socioeconomic status meant more than your personality type, and I'd disagree with you, but it'd be a valid argument. But it's consistent in multiple ways. With zodiacs, you don't get a true cohesive picture of a person. It's all over the place because it needs to be, and then people pick out what they like or don't. That's not the case with the MBTI. It's also consistent over a person's life. People get different results when they test themselves over the course of time, but if they knew themselves properly, or understood what the questions were getting at properly, it would be consistent, because as far as official results gained from someone licensed to give the test, people are one type for their entire life. People grow and mature, etc. but their core personality doesn't change, and that's important. As for the value I personally put into it, honestly, there are few things I value more than the MBTI. It has really helped me. My father is an ESTP, and being an INFP child with an ESTP father is... rough... I can't explain to you how helpful it has been in making peace with myself. Without it, I would have believed fully that there is something deeply, and horribly wrong with me. I believe wholeheartedly that personality type colors each and every interaction we ever have on a profound level. The same arguments pop up over and over and over and over again, and it's as clear as day to me that they are based in type. Everyone wants to make others more like them, and they can hardly stop themselves from doing that. Some typologists call it the Pygmalion Project, because everyone thinks that the image of perfection is some vision of themselves, so they chip away at other people, believing they will sculpt them into being more like themselves. Not only does a person's effort to chisel people in their Pygmalion Project fail, and absolutely fail, but it may actually cause damage to the person that they are shaping. So that to me is why the MBTI is insanely important. Also, Atom, I love that you got INFP. I would love if it were true, because I'm an INFP, though with the way you reacted to your description, it's very possible that you tested wrong, but don't feel bad, in my experience, pretty much everyone mistypes early on. Also, INFPs get the reputation of not being logical or rational, but as we mature, we do put a lot of energy into the naturally less-developed parts of ourselves. I actually champion rationality. I know that not being rational was a big problem of mine for a long time, so I guess caring about it so much now is my own sort of balance in life. Some even say that NT/Rational types are a great pairing for the NF types, particularly in romance, and it's probably because of some of the sparks that fly in this area. Anyway, rationality is a rare thing to find anywhere, and it's as important as the idealism that NF types represent, so I find myself sounding like a rational on some level these days, or so I think. Anyways, I have spent absurd amounts of time with this system, and I feel like I have represented that pretty well here, so there you go! Spend some more time with it, and perhaps it will surprise you! If you are an INFP really, it's the richest type of information on the planet.
