So, do you guys think this maybe a repeat of this current Gen? Sony & Microsoft receiving multiplats while Nintendo only gets it's exclusives? Will this really be the final nail in the coffin for Nintendo or are they going to somehow pull through? I sure hope Nintendo pulls through and can change the game industry for the better, but that's just wishful thinking.
What are your thoughts guys?

We still don't know anything about the next consoles, anything now is just rumor and speculation until proven otherwise by Sony and Microsoft. Rich only read from the Eurogamer article, which omits certain details. Look here for more information. On top of that, how much better can graphics get without being too expensive or looking not much different from other consoles? I bet Sony would care about a reasonable price for their next console don't ya think. And with games like Bayo 2 and X, we already have beautiful graphics and games matter the most. It would only hurt developers and console makers more to go any further with better textures and shaders. More studios would close down due to higher demands in sales. A ps2 to Xbox situation would be more imminent where developers still stuck with the ps2. And in the end, the other consoles may have problems as well.

Its going to be even worst since there is no casual market and Nintendo does not Understand How to make HD games. How many times can they pay platinum and namco to make THERE games before they themselfs get rich. So I expect worst because this time they can't just throw out HD marios like nothing.
As for dev cost they are not going to be crazy as you think and some devs spoke on this already. the reason it got out of hand is because everyone was pushing for faster and better results and quicker turn around in a crowded market because of this crazy long gen cycle. So they did things they never did before. Im sure everyone learned form this and I boubt they will do that again and will go the smarter over harder way for the same end results. Early next gen won't be crowded so there would ne no reason for the mad rush like there was before plus there is a better understanding of the general tech now.
If anything coming from reports this will be the most anti consumer friendly gen because now publishers and devs know what to do and how to get there money and they will force gamers down the path they want this time. And they will do this by spending way less money.

If the Orbis has always online DRM, there will be a nice Japanese WiiU in my office instead, I don't use online for much except for DLC and Co-Op when Monster Hunter class games are out, I also hope it bombs in Japan permanently and the devs go to the WiiU and/or handhelds, I don't want imports tainted by that kind of shit, and Westerners should also stay away from Orbis and Durango if this is proven to be true, it is bad business and way more than just caring for their bottom line, it's a kick in the face to everyone but Sony and MS. Nintendo isn't pulling that shit, I can play my games fine and if I want that DLC, then it will be available with no problems.

I just read it would exceed 40,000 yen ($428), we all seen how the Vita was at first and still it's struggling to sell even though there are some really good games this year that have been released, there are some nice games coming after SKV I've preordered. The Orbis at 40,000+ Yen would lower sales drastically.

They will make them attractive to buy then in mid gen flip the switch like they did for dlc and by then eveyone has to much invested intrest. LOL! thats the easy way to do this without fail.

Nintendo is sitting on a fortune from the past six years. They could easily finish third with the Wii U and still be financially viable. The 3DS is doing well and set for another strong year and none of us really know how Sony and Microsoft will do over next year. I think nothing is set and won't be set for the consoles until at least 2015.

Your right SITTING ON A FORTUNE, They can't spend it because the old man wont let them gamble HIS money so nintendo is forced to play this low tech game because he's worried about his money even know they are not givin enough use of the money to quickly do HD development so its not as good as it may seem for them.

That will cause massive rage, like SOPA and PIPA-tier rage, that would really suck if Sony and MS did but they do so at their own risk of consumer revolt and they'll be forced to release an update that restores the consoles back to normal.

We got mad at dlc but look we all caved in. Only way for next gen not to go down like that is if the game numbers go back to noormal and no one is making millons on any games. then I think we have a chance. its the general public that has to be done with games for the gamers to get power back.

I wonder if all the employees for the AAA companies can just bring their sons or daughters to work and just let them do whatever they please on the keyboard a few steps before completion, then we can have games that can't sell and normalcy with a little bit of comedy.
