this is worse than what MGS2 did,

WORSE twists and retcons than what Crisis Core did, FFVIIR is the worst bait and switch to date. Especially considering most core FFVII fans expected FFVIIRemake to be an actual remake, not a reboot, not some Nomura hack effort to troll the original fans and totally betray the original lore,

so people that were ok with FFVIIR just being part 1, ok with added scenes and some altering of the plot, but how much would they tolerate and accept before the lore and story is literally turned upside down to the point that tests how much of a pure FFVII fan someone really is?
well those that think as long as Cloud survives and is the main, doesnt matter what else they alter. but everyone else, could really feel absolutely betrayed and doubtful of this SE backed fanfic from getting away wasting millions of dollars and years of time and decades of waiting for what is ultimately the most heretic and blasphemy to the fundamentals of FFVII universe as a whole.
now others that dont care could find the absurd twists to be interesting and others can find it an opportunity to drink the pure FFVII fan's mountains of salty tears , though overall, if any FFVII fans any real integrity and respect towards the classic they wanted to get a graphical remake, could find this FFVII reboot to be massively disappointing in more ways than one.
so yea just a decent warning. I myself felt betrayed playing through Sword and Fairy 6, thinking the devs wouldnt be so cruel as to write such a disappointing outcome, I think a lot of FFVII fans could save a lot of money, time and disappointment just researching FFVII Remake in greater detail cause there are A LOT of fans that don't want the story to and lore go in the direction Nomura is taking it.
really, this is really worse than the direction FFXIII-2 went
this is like whenever Marvel or DC runs out of ideas
FFVIIR is proving to be a creative trainwreck by the original FFVII standards, even in the lore and story fundamentals. Square Enix should have fired Nomura since Versus XIII.
if the masses of FFVII fans give Square Enix money for this, yet respect the original, it just to goes show that extreme brand loyalty oversaturates the consumerbase. basically they are saying its ok to butcher what made FInal Fantasy VII so praised and remembered in the first place.
though guess some people are ok with that as long as their fan favorites survive. though not like Nomura even cares to make the rest of them playable outside of battles. What an inconsiderate corrupt dictator he is trolling the fanbase like this and Square Enix's clueless bigwigs letting him get away with it.
I dont care for FFVII, but unlike Nomura, I care for the feelings of others, people deserve to know the truth about FFVIIR if they want to know the truth and save money if they feel SE should not get money from them if FFVIIR goes in a story and lore disaster direction they dont want it to go.
a lot of people will be disappointed by it for sure, and it will definitely divide the fanbase overall.
Remake = remaking the graphics and production values of the original, perhaps adding some events, but not shattering the lore
Reboot = completely altering the foundation and fabric of that game's universe and lore
though FFVIIR is worse than a reboot, its like a twisted fanfic that presents alternate reality blasphemy affected by time travel and entities that weren't even written in the original plot.
