The soon to be legend in the making Asuka is back in senran kagura busrt, has she learned some new tricks and how does she compare to her fresh face form from the last game?
In alot of ways Asuka is how Ikagura use to play complex and dependent on counting your attacks. Gone of the days of just mashing attack with her now you have to really know what you are doing.
Yin mode/ non turnover forum
This is her base form for her Yin style and its changed a little, now she has Kunai that she throws. in fact many characters now do. I guess the game was not enough ninja for some people. The problem with these new moves on low pre transformed state as well as transformed is they add nothing to her character just usless moves added to give the feel of playing a game with ninja's. A few moves have a had property changes like before I talked about high and low launchers changed for both games as well as movment. The big change that any player that really goes deep into the games system will notice is now slow asuka is in this game. In the last game she can get a 100 hit combo in less then 5 seconds with out a special move in sight or auto combo. Now much like alot of the cast with execptions like Haruka, Daidoji and Yomi you have to bend the system to work with the changes and this makes her much harder along with the extra commands of usless moves.
Yin mode/ Transformed form
In this form she is givin all her moves from the first game and that good with a few extra's that don't really affect her game outside on her new Ninpou art. Her new ninpou the "Hurrican kicks" as I like to call it while not a strong move is more of a hold the combo or "get off me" move it has its uses but since it has a slow fall built in and no upward activation animation like say Haruka or Daidoji its not really useful in combo's. Its more like Ryu's super from SF4 just with no push back and a little follow up if you want to get technical. Its nice but won't really cut it in the later game her second ninpou is still queen and her first is still a good last minute get out of the way or dodge move. Only major change in this form from the original game is her follow up potential after the ninpou's but this can be said for alot of the original cast.
Senran mode/ Secret art unlocked
This is the form where you must start to learn correct button pressing with Asuka because any wrong press will leave you hanging doing the wrong move and with not hit stun and thing can shut you down and break your combo's easy. much like alot of characters in this form her longer move list become usless because there is just no time and you will be forced to use ninpou as well as short combos to get safely in the air as fast as you can where you can build your meter for the next wave. Stand out changes inculde a big drop in speed as well as ground combo potential. Unlike the original game she does not shine in air combat so its back to abusing that dive attack and limit breaks.
Yang mode/ Bikini form
This form is no diffrent from the last just that there is a limit on linit breaks and you have less ninpou to get you out of danger so its all about playing smart here because she does not get the huge speed increase she got from the last game in this mode so it really comes down to using what you know attacking when you can and getting away as fast as you can like a NINJA. I guess she can do it.
All in all I would say this Asuka took a major dive in terms of creativity and just all out fun of the Asuka from the first game. It seems they tried to make her stand out more once they changed the system and it did not work. Maybe they should have let use use green aura Asuka.
