info here is interview www.polygon.com/interviews/2020/8/23/21378092/phantasy-star-online-programmers-diablo-style-isometric-prototypeaaah, so Gamecube lacking standardized online cnvinced the devs to ad 4 players splitscreen multiplayer. grrr. that should be standard whether a platform has online capabilities or not built in. it shouldn't require a situation like GC had to implement 4p splitscreen co-op. whew. the splitscreen gets more use than the online these days so I guess thats why PSO2 is online only because online play is standarized on current platforms, also to prevent cheating I guess but these things shouldn't limit the game from being playable offline solo and with 4 players splitscreen. geez it was a spark of situational luck GC version received 4 players splitscreen co op at all. not from developer common sense. though to their credit at least they produced the empathy to make that happen.
