The Bikini inspector herself Katsuragi makes her big debut in portrait or maybe she's just after young girls... anyway lets see how she does in the original version.
Katsuragi is one of the few that can use the entire system to her advantage in each of her forms I will go over a few of the cool ways she does this in the original game.
Yin mode/ non turnover form
Again like before once a curtain level is reached you gain all your abilitiys once this happens Katsuragi becomes a really fun character too use. Even though she is one of the weaker character she hits reallly hard and her moves cause alot of knock back and bouncing of the enemy, this can become useful once you start going deeper in to her combo's. Basicly her ground game is built around her X attack. This attack does eveything it can be used as your quick attack it can be used to hit grounded enemies it can be used to juggle or push enemies way just about everything. and her air X attack also works the same. These attacks all depend on when you cancel the attack and where it hits or how it hits. it sound complex but its really easy with her since there is no strict timing like Ikagura and you don't have to worry about frame drops that much. At times you can swap out the X attacks for Y canceled attacks and just a whole new wolrd of ideas comes rushing in, she is very much flexable in any playstyle.
Yin mode/ turnover transformed form
In this form she gains a bunch of new attacks nothing to amazing but again she does get a jumping string which gives her the triple jump ability like Asuka. the main thing in this form is the ability to abuse and use her first Ninpou art. Since she is so weak and the attack gives so good follow up and leave you at an advantage you can do the attack again and again and before your enemies fall one good dash ram into the Ninpou will keep that combo going longer. Even the second ninpou can be used it you just want a cool ender to finish over your combo. Since she is at such an advantage after the first art you can start another combo and build up for another meter its that simple. in this case being weak helps because it just adds to the more she can get out of her combo's
Senran mode/ secret art unlock
In this forum her air ability's take on a more Ikagura and Asuka vibe with out giving up that hard hitting edge she is known for, So when it comes to air combos auto and manual she can still hang with both of them and in some cases does a better job them asuka on the more high flying tech. What gives her a slight edge is her control is greater. I will explain this next part in more detail later once i get to the hebi girls as this tech was further expanded in the next game "burst" but basicly the way Katsuragi attacks in the air with a flip has great impact on how you move the character and if you want them to go higher or lower. In the original game only 2 characters could use this and Katsuragi was one of them so her air control in this and all her forms really is great. Also in senran more its MOE NINPOU MOE COMBOS.
Yang/ bikini form
This form is much like Asuka's form she just has less combos and less Ninpou to use but her speed and control remains good all around. Also the addition to getting rid of alot of the complex and slow strings are a welcom addition as you can think about speed and not about the long drawn out attack animations that come with the transformed state.
I would say Katsuragi did not need to be the best in all things she simply put in a better overal performance then most. Thats really the only way I can sum it up since she was the only one to touch on everyones gameplay style just a little and now go over board.
