what you speak of is a long term goal and not eveyone can do this before they say I give up and they wait fot a relationship to be thrown at them. I would never advertise this path unless you already have confidence and know who you are and whee you are going. it sounds more like he is not at the level to think long term so its good to play the game now and take in the experience because it will only help him later telling him don't worry does nothing but keeps him in the house on friday nights. You cannot run until you walk. A big part of gaining confidence is making peace with yourself. You do that by first standing on your own. At 18 I had no clue what I was doing in my life, those years where some of greatest growth and change. I don't blame any 18 year old feeling insecure or confused. The point is it is okay and have time. I do not know a single person who met their life partner or spouse in their teenage years, it can happen but no sense putting any pressure that early. I was not suggesting waiting for relationships to be thrown at them, but that relationships are work and have to build that self first. I approached dozens of women in my life and vast majority shot me down, others lasted few dates, some relationships for a while and one special one. It sucked, I will never deny it sucked being shot down, but when I stopped tying my self worth to the response I found it didn't depress me nearly as much. A relationship should be a great addition in your life, not a supplement is what I am getting at. Also, I definitely was not saying stay in on Friday nights or any night if you do not want to. I am and have always been a sociable person. I traveled, got involved in groups, went to events and had tons of great friends. Just, if you go out with a group of friends don't feel like you have to get a girl. By all means if you feel like it approach one, but don't beat up on yourself if they say no because for most guys majority of times it is a no. Shrug it off and enjoy yourself, friends, what ever you are doing because as an adult you get to be free. I just think too many teenagers think that period of life will be magnified and be the rest of their lives when my experience could not be farther from that. High school ranks way below University years and work years for me.

All of you here wear glasses? I was legally blind (which is 20/200 and I was 20/260) and had laser shot into my eyes to fix them. Best money I ever spent.

That's good i'm glad for you Agi. XD How was it getting the lasers? Quick and easy, procedure was about thirty minutes and you just had to stare at a dot while they worked the laser around. Within days I was 20/20 and have been ever since.

Sorry if I made it seem like "you should aim for a long term relationship only".
Some relationships are learning experiences, they run their course and have to accept that.
Also, do not have time? I find it funny as high school I had no time, now I have far more time and freedom. I worked and had school, home work and activities back then. Now it is work and my social life which I dictate. I guess because I did not plan on ever "needing" a serious relationship I did not think 18 was old at all. More and more people are going well into their 20s or 30s before settling down so 18 just feels so young to me.
I will say you know yourself better than anyone and hwat you are ready for. I do think being comfortable and having confidence is paramount in courtship.

XP that's the negative just like waiting all your life has a possible negative effect. it is up to you to be smart and balance eveything.

Hey There, I am newbie in this place, but I need some advice from you. I just wanted to know if ya can help me On my problem, I really felt that everyone I like and everyone that I was friends maybe don't like me, like they neglected me. I just wish myself this question, why am I even born like this, why can't I just be something else in this world. I just feel every time I did something good, things go for the worst, like I am a walking jinx
