playeressence.com/nintendo-q3-2013-earnings-results-january-29th/Nintendo will be releasing their Q3 2013 earning results on January 29th. Nintendo's probably just gonna slash their forecast at this point. I am gonna take a wild stab and guess that 6 million Wii U's have been sold as of the end of December, if not 6 million Wii U's at the very least 5 million. I expect another awesome direct just like last year, Nintendo likes to announce new games before these investors meetings, anyway. Stay away from mainstream sites when this day comes, they tend to spin anything like this as negative.

There you go again with that. I'm not the only Nintendo fan on this forum, so I'm sure you get on alot of other people with your sarcasm. The frequent chatter with JackAtlas lets me see that. Oh, they do preach that "Iwata should be fired" and "the Wii U is a flop" many times. The only screw up Iwata made so far was trusting 3rd parties like EA to support their system when they were still getting things ready. What do they do: cancel support because they didn't think their games would sell and blame the fans. The sales boost after Christmas probably restored alot of faith in him for now. 2014 is the real fight for dominance.

If you have to go to the hospital Nintendo is not going to care remember that when holding them up so high.

It's mainstream sites like GameSpot and Kotaku, too. Their user bases are a reflection of the site as a whole and that's where the doom-saying comes from. I don't worship Nintendo, I just want them to succeed and for people not to blow things out proportion. I'm generally against pessimism or misinformation about anything.

I'm siding with Twintails on this one. I feel a little more hopeful for Nintendo's future with the Wii U. Maybe it won't get the multiplats, but if Nintendo times everything right in 2014, things will be in their favor. The PS4/Xbone hype is fading and ppl are starting to get bored with their consoles, since there are no games for them right now, while their suffering from a huge video game drought Nintendo is getting their games out the door. This will boost sales more and give Nintendo the edge they need to gain more 3rd party support and install base. The 3DS started as doom and gloom and look where it's at now. The main reason the PS4 and Xbone sold as much as they did is mainly due to Microsoft and Sony hyping and advertising the crap out of them, if Nintendo had done the same at the start of the Wii U I'm positive that the Wii U would've likely received the same amount of sales if not more. Wave1000 your too difficult to take seriously, you act as if Nintendo can never succeed no matter what. Yes I'm aware Nintendo can do better especially with their online services, sure I wished they would make their online like PSN and Xbox live, but the thing that matters the most, are the games and that can move some heavy units, if the timing is correct, plus the unannounced 3rd party exclusive getting released, and Super Smash Bros. plus Mario Kart 8 hell even a 2nd price drop(Wishful thinking) I'm sure Nintendo will dominate. Whew I needed to get that off my chest.

When a thread like this pops up and numerous people are claiming for Nintendo to go third party or whatever. How do you think a lot of people feel when the truth about Sony's financial state is reveled? (I'm talking about the entire industry as a whole not just Sony or Nintendo players.) Even with a successful home console the rest of Sony is in shambles.

Hard to spin it as anything but bad news. Nintendo threw everything at the 3DS and it still cannot compete with the DS. I really don't get it other than apparently people really do not mind playing cheap micro transaction phone games. As for the Wii U, feels more and more like Gamecube redux with less third party support.
Nintendo will have to do something big or different next go around or plan on eating into their big pile of reserve money at this rate. I just hope classic Nintendo games continue and in good quality.
