UPDATE - 6/12 I've been working on my portfolio as of now for one of the publishers I'm gonna pitch The Duck Brothers to and that is...*trumpet noise* However this means that I may have to change some things around to target a more acceptable 16+ rating because of their "no very explicit content" policy. But eh, it's no big deal. On the bright side this gave me a lot more jokes about Senran Kagura and whatnot... *rubs hands*

So I thought long and hard and well...let's just say I'm including the BlazBlue cast into the world of The Duck Brothers. You don't see them in the actual novel but they're mentioned a lot. However this means that while they have the same personalities they're a teensy more satirical than their normal counterparts with different careers and whatnot, although there are exemptions of the latter. For example:
There's no such thing as the NOL. There is a fanclub with the acronym NOL, but it stands for the "National Orange League".
Ragna - Wanted criminal as usual but many cartoon characters find him more annoying than itimidating much to his annoyance.
Noel - Just her usual self but her job is now a park ranger. She's more open to the latter because SMALL CUTE ANIMALS
Jin - A park ranger just like Noel. Unlike Noel, he despises his job and wants to join the Marines.
Hazama - He's just as evil but hates it when he's compared to Bart Simpson (because both are eternal rivals) and having his body figure ridiculed by cartoon characters.
Taokaka - Her fondness for food causes some deep rifts within the culinary community for reasons unknown. However,
Litchi - She's a little more gullible and naive. That doesn't mean she has some rather excellent relationships with various cartoon and anime characters.
Carl Clover - Has a on-and-off friendship with Bart Simpson and the two are mistaken because of their vocal range.
Arakune - He speaks more fluently, however is rather concerned about his hideous appearance.
Iron Tager - He's more charitable than his game counterpart.
Rachel Alucard - Somehow has a thing for video games. Her "Rabbit" nickname annoys her further with toons and anime using the latter to tease her into submission.
Bang Shishigami - His fiery and overexuberant personality ended up making him into a comically overdramatic thespian, which is something he's strangely proud of. The Ikuruga Ninjas
Hakumen - Utterly feared by cartoon and anime characters everywhere, but has a surprisingly stable relationship with Brock Samson.
Makoto Nanaya - Various toons call her "boobie squirrel", which is something she doesn't have a problem with.
Nu-13 - Many toons think of her as the long-lost cousin of Android 18.
Izanami - Has one fatal weakness - Bart Simpson. Why? Fuck if I know.
This ain't over yet - many toons and anime are not safe yet. This was just the icing of the cake...but whatever.
Oh yeah - changed my mind about Seven Seas. Gonna focus on pitching The Duck Brothers to Yen Press.

Time to share some WIP bits:
HOME SWEET DUCK:
TOMMY Jeez-us! The hell did I sprinkle this with?! It looks like a volcano digested itself from the inside out!
Tony” appears next to the table. Tommy looks at “Tony” and speaks with him
“TONY” I hope everyone’s enjoying their dinner.
TOMMY Er…my food became…rotten.
“Tony” picks up the meal and acts like he’s disgusted.
“TONY” Oh dear – looks like one of the cooks added some ingredients that don’t react well to pepper. I’ll try a taste and see if it’s alright to eat.
“Tony” opens a hatch and downs the meal in one sitting. A panel later he falls down unconscious into the table, breaking it and startling everyone.
SFX: CRASH! A small, cartoony skull-and-crossbones floats over “Tony” while the Duck Bros and everyone else look on in shock.
TOMMY I’d make a snarky comment here, but that wouldn’t help the mood.

FEMINISM SHEMINISM:
A shot of Steve, Larry and Undey are watching and eating snacks.
FRED (offscreen) And lastly…Bosques Nacionales!
A shot of Fred and Dicks talking about the Spanish show. Fred is also opening an envelope at the same time.
DICKS What the heck is “Bosques Nacionales”?
FRED That’s the Cuban version of Brickleberry, Dicks. Only this time there’s no cub bear - they got a chicken with really large breasts instead.
DICKS Oh lordy! Cubans have the weirdest tastes in cartoons.
FRED No shit. Either way…

COOKING IS MY BUISNESS:
A shot of Steve talking to an off-screen Larry, though he looks like he’s talking to the reader.
STEVE Well, I suppose I can give the leftovers to Undey-
Undey appears behind Steve with Tommy’s plate fully clean. Steve is startled.
UNDEY FINISHED!
STEVE Whoa! How did you get here Undey?
UNDEY Well, I violated the laws of…being lazy.
A shot of Steve sitting down.
SFX: Klik!
STEVE Whatever that is I don’t even want to know…anyway I’m going finish up my breakfast and take a nice wa–
Another ejection seat causes Steve to fly out from the mansion. Larry and Undey look on unsurprised.
SFX: TWANG! AAAAAAH
A shot of Larry and Undey looking at each other.
UNDEY …I think I need to do something over my “Spy vs. Spy” LARPS.

So I decided to include the Skullgirls characters and lore into the Duck Bros, twice as more as BlazBlue (the latter is just the characters and some of the environments) because well...they're cartoons, right? They're animated and I'm including takes on characters for comedic and realistic purposes. Can't just imply that they exist, y'know.
The Canopy Kingdom happens to be somewhere in the eastern Colorado Rocky Mountain region. The Black Egrets also spread out to Colorado, but to other states like Wyoming, Washington, California, Montana and Nevada. The Skullgirl exists however, but cannot leave outside the Canopy Kingdom or risk losing all power. Humans, toons and anime can head up there for vacations. The Medicis spread out into other states as well, and go as far as owning illegal casinos and operating prostitution, gun distribution and cockfighting rings. However, they strictly refuse to operate drug smuggling rings. The Skull Heart, when transported, is kept inside a large jar much to it's annoyance.
Filia and Samson - Filia has a GED and is soon to go to college with plans to become a teacher. Samson is friends with Undey, and is more foul-mouthed than his game counterpart.
Cerebella - Engages more in comically impossible circus tricks such as riding a bull on a tightrope while Vice Versa holds a breakdancing shark and two muscular jugglers. Her bust and cleavage is made fun of by toons and anime alike, but she's close friends with Steve. She doesn't suck up to Vitale as much though.
Peacock - Has a more darker, sadistic sense of humor.
Parasoul and Umbrella - No personality changes to both of them.
Ms. Fortune - She's more clever and dynamic, but her profession is a professional MMA fighter.
Painwheel - Toons fear her, but deep down she's a lot more kinder and friendlier.
Valentine - Is the victim of a debated rumor that her breasts were made from the cartilage, bone meal and flesh of cartoon characters, whom she vehemently denies. Either way, toons and anime fear her greatly for her gory strategies to medical work. She also despises the Red Cross (which is a reference to her design change).
Double - Is mistaken frequently for a pile of morphing grape jelly and is the focus for some bizzare shapeshifting gags.
Squigly and Leviathan - No changes to Squigly, although she is often the topic for zombie jokes and gags. Leviathan has more humor and fun to his character, sometimes donning a top hat and a cup of tea and a British accent for comedic relief.
Big Band - More honest and deadpan than his game counterpart.
Eliza, Sekhmet, Horace and Albus - Eliza's personality hasn't really changed much, however she's able to break glass by hitting a high note when singing. Sekhmet's personality is identical of that to Ocho from The Amazing World of Gumball, Horace and Albus have the same personalities albeit having differing musical tastes (Horace prefers adult rock while Albus likes hair metal).
Beowulf - No personality changes. He's still a wrestler, albeit part of a independent hardcore wrestling circuit.
Bloody Marie - No changes to her personality at all. However, as a Skullgirl, she is prone to losing all of her power and can become in great pain when outside the Canopy Kingdom.
That's not all of the SG characters, but if they do make any appearences in the Duck Bros, they'll probably have some minor changes to either personality, profession or hobbies. Yeah.

TIDBIT TIME: Cooking is my Buisness...
Fugget shreds cheese onto a baguette loaf while DigDug slices up pepperoni with a chainsaw.
CAPTION: On DigDug’s corner, he’s making a scene with that chainsaw. I’m pretty sure you can’t use a chainsaw when it comes to food, but whatever. This is entertainment! As for Steve…
Steve is decked out in radiation-proof gear, dipping a plutonium rod in a pot of boiling water.
CAPTION: …He’s going full nuclear here with that plutonium rod for his fish crumpets and…“Atomic” potato salad.
A curious Gina looks at Undey, who is crossing his arms.
GINA Okay Undey, how did you get those tools in here again?
UNDEY Simple. I bought them off off “eBay”.
GINA Are you sure…?
UNDEY Aw hell, I was bluffing. I actually bought them off the black market.
Gina looks shocked while Undey tries to reassure her.
UNDEY …I had a lot of money from my stint in pirating music. Yeah.
GINA Please, don’t speak anymore. For my own sanity.

I renamed two characters, DigDug and Fugget to TwatTwat and Fahggut. Both are still going to be parodies of SwaySway and Buhdeuce from Breadwinners, I just thought the names felt more fitting and coarse.

Downstairs, Steve strolls back to the apartment carrying gardening tools. He is humming a tune, and some music notes appear over his beak. The next panel, Steve becomes curious over four doors nearby, and opens them.
The first door shows a couple squeezed together, implying that they were making out. Steve is grossed out by this sight. The woman’s shirt shows a nipple poking out from underneath it.
STEVE Oh, yuck!
MAN Hey, can’t we get some goddamn privacy in here!?!
Steve closes the first door and opens the second one, which is filled with garbage such as pizza boxes, soda cans and various assorted trash. On the upper shelf, the hats of South Park characters Cartman, Stan and Kyle appear in order, as well as a decaying, bloody corpse wearing a slightly disintegrating orange parka impaled on a spike – this is implied to be Kenny McKormick’s corpse.
STEVE I’m assuming this is the garbage disposal unit…
The third door is filled with bean sprouts, and Senran Kagura’s Yomi is seen happily munching on them, holding a handful of sprouts in both hands. Steve just looks at the reader dully.
The next panel shows the narrator being threatened by an enraged Japanese game designer. The latter is wearing brass knuckles, and he has a furious look on his face. The narrator is scared, and puts his hands up in order to protect himself.
NARRATOR Look Mr. Miyaki, I swear, we meant no harm to you, we just wanted a famous appearance by someone well-known in these parts!
MIYAKI 私のこぶしを訴訟で、顔を有罪とされています。!!!*
CAPTION: My fist is the lawsuit, and your face is the guilty!!!
The last door opens up and Steve pokes out, noticing Spawn, Youngblood, Dynamo 5, Sara Pezzini, Tony Luciano, Rick Grimes and The Maxx – all Image Comics superheroes – praising a watermelon on a pedestal.
SPAWN Let it be known that this munificent fruit is a divider of all things in this world – food, water, solitude…I praise thee for fulfilling those purposes!
(SK references AND Image Comics characters worshipping a watermelon? I'm getting too innovative for my tastes)

I'm planning a sequel to this titled "Delirious Nomad". Esentially, instead of three stories, there's two - a lengthy one that satirizes the controversy of digital piracy and copyright infringement complete with legit pirates, and another one, "Movers & Shakers" - although the plot hasn't been fully thought of yet.

UPDATE TAHM
*Alchemy, magic, mechas, etc. are present in the Toons universe. However, alchemy and magic is present for comic effect, and is only used to develop medicines. Mechas are used as either tactical military tools, and the more powerful ones are weapons of mass destruction and can lead to mutually assured destruction if two countries utilize these mechs.
*A darker backstory about how the cartoons and anime came into real life - not going to spoil anything real major, but let me just say it has a scene of Walt Disney being tortured. Let that sink in for a moment.
*Military organizations from manga/anime or cartoons, such as Mithril from FMP, is utilized to serve in fictious versions of real life wars or conflicts.
*A pretty nasty, but satirical depiction of various political issues going on including a fictious debate about "cartoonsexuality" where a human can engage in a martial or homosexual relationship with cartoon and anime.
*Most story events from various video games, cartoons, anime, etc. are usually treated as "celebrity" drama for comic or dramatic effect. This even includes disasters or scenarios in various parts like South Park, the Canopy Kingdom or Kagutsuchi.
*Locations from toons, anime, etc. are squelched in Colorado for easier accessibility, and are portrayed as lucious vacation spots (for example Oriental Town is described as "the Chinatown of the Mile High City". While highly non-canon (except for places like Quahog from Family Guy), this also provides interactivity between different characters. And as stated, most places like the Canopy Kingdom or Kagutsuchi are both located on the front range, but are quite far away from each other (Canopy Kingdom is southeast of Leadville, and Katgutsuchi is located near Glenwood Springs).
Yep, now there's some serious lore going on here. Like, big time. In fact, the third novel is longer, darker and dramatic, although it has comedic relief. Well, technically, not like super serious, but some character development and drama like stuff.
On top of that...the stories are being retooled: one that is a satirical take on fanservicey martial arts anime, and another that satirizes social justice warriors and activists. That, and I'm gonna pitch these duckies to Dark Horse Comics cuz they're more simpler to pitch to and whatnot. Yeah.
