Sooo I'm hoping to get a Vita this week, and I decided no title was better for a first go than Shinovi Versus. But I had a couple questions I figured at least someone here might be able to help me with:
1. If I go with the digital download, how's the size of the game? Just to know if I should upgrade on memory now, or when Dekamori comes out. Or if I should just say screw it, and get The Best edition that comes out early in March, or whatever.
2. How much of the game is hindered by lack of Japanese language skills? I intend to start learning regardless, but I'd like to know for this anyway. I figure it'd matter to an extent here, unlike Dekamori.
3. Is there anything else you feel I should know before I get it?
A bit vague on some of that, I guess... But I'm very open to any thoughts or anything people wanna say on the game before I do anything. If you have any advice for a new Vita owner or games you'd recommend, that'd be lovely too.

Figure out where the load and save things are first always when buying Japanese games. Some games give a colored warning if you are about to delete save data. Once you get the game most of what you need is online, I will give links when you are ready.

I think i can answer best as i got a vita for SV and it was the first game i played and i don't know any Japanese. First with digital or physical one, the price of memory cards is very high for little memory, also the vita is account locked meaning if you get it from psn then you will only be able to play it on your japan psn account meaning you can't play anything from your other account, if it is physical it can be used on any. Not knowing Japanese doesn't really affect you much the menus are very easy to navigate (remember this is my first Japanese game), most of the time you walk to a certain part in the room to do things rather than navigate list of text. The story is pretty easy to follow in basic terms. Yumi see Asuka, Yumi get mad, Yumi want to fight Asuka.

You're all just wonderful. Thanks for all the info. I may get digital as I need a bigger memory card for Dekamori anyway, in which case it becomes a may as well type thing. But the glory of a physical copy pulls me in. Really glad to hear my lack of reading Japanese wont ruin it for me, as I was a biiit concerned about that since Burst was surprisingly text heavy. Overall sounds like a solid decision to get it asap.

If I had the money, I would. Instead they'll all have to settle for Poog's Precious Pizza Preparations! Made by hand, with love.

Only if you're willing to frame a really obnoxious photo of me and have it beside your bed.
And you can never have enough pizza, dilbert.

EDIT: Ooh, I almost forgot! For other Vita games, I suggest Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Killzone Mercenary, and downloadable titles, I'd go after Rocketbirds Vita, Hotline Miami and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

If you have any advice for a new Vita owner or games you'd recommend, that'd be lovely too. PS Vita : - Tearaway (more atmospheric than gameplay, but the art direction is fantastic) - Muramasa - Dragon Crown - Ys Celceta (not a lot of JRPG on the vita, so you have to take what you get) - Soul Sacrifice Indies/Downloables titles - Atelier Totori/Meruru (non-linear JRPG) - HOTLINE MIAMI - Guacamele (Metroidvania x Grim Fandango) - Fez, when it gets out - Starbound, when (if) if gets out Old PSP/PS1/2 titles : - Armored Core Silent Line - Chrono Cross/Vagrant Story/etc (I'm European so no luck but I believe US people get those ?) - Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (Or Portable 3rd if you play on your japanese account)

A bit late but Gravity Rush has a demo, give it a try, especially if you would like to play something a bit more original.
