Oooooh! My birthday is the 18th so I can maybe consider it a late present
Polls are closed already, I don't have any twitter (or well, I do... I think... not sure anymore), but here's my answers.
Favourite game is... ugh... either SV or DC. Burst had the best stories to me, with in particular Ikaruga's story with Muramase being heartbreaking. Muramase's desperation, the typical failure-but-wants-to-be-great character that I think all non-gold medal people can relate to more than we would wish to... It's painful. You know you can't blame the gold medal Ikarugas in the world for being awesome either, but... still... it can grind. Visually and combat-wise Burst was just underwhelming. Also, those minions with maid uniforms and crossbows were awful... (NOTE: I suck at these games and SV on normal was a challenge to me at times)
DC's fighting was SO INCREDIBLY DOPE. Just so good. The fighting was incredbily smooth, incredibly fluid, and there I truly had the idea I was as amazing as the story always says these girls are. Fighting the yoma was really cool as well, and gave the grandeur I had hoped for in SV already. Storywise it had many good moments, but also an incredibly large part of uninteresting fillers. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for silly jokes, though... it could have been just me.
SV was my introduction to the series and with that has the special effect of the series having been new at the point I was playing it. Nonetheless, I replayed it for the platinum (now only still need to get back to it for the dressing room one), and it was still good. Still had amazing storylines, amazing fighting mechanics (that felt sooooo good after the clunky mechanics of EV), and pretty good visuals (that felt not even as half as good the second time, after the gorgeous EV XD), but whether it all adds up to more than DC is tough.
EV was an incredible disappointment, and the reason I won't blindly pre-order the next SK game. The visuals were gorgeous, even on the PS Vita. But the story was BY. FAR. The worst of the series. I get that there's a multiple timeline kinda thing going on, and that allows them to still have problems we have already seen being dealt with in previous games (because they're still here in this timeline), but do we really need to go through the EXACT SAME Imu-Hikage beef? Do we really need a second dramatic goodbye with Kurokage? The multiple timeline thing works well for these 'different perspective' games, but it's a shame it's being used as an excuse to rehash old storylines... I've really just quickread some parts thinking 'wasn't this the exact same in SV?' Replaying SV made me realize it wasn't, but it was damn near close. Being able to dish out L+O ninjutsu at will, rather than only when almost dead (meaning once in the whole game for the trophy) was really cool, but it did not make me care for the story... Only at the end I REALLY cared, and only then I was really excited, but jeez, it was a boring way there.
Having gone over it again, I think SV will have to be my favourite. With no real downsides, I think SV would have to be my favourite.
As far as the spin-offs... Hmmm... If they'd make it a good shooter, I'd go with the watergun, but I fear Bullet Girl antics...
