As I was replaying the first game I recalled how far the manga had gotten and remembered a certain scene involving Homura in her school stamping new student entry forms.

I don't know if it will be told in this or the Burst manga but highlight below if you want to know more about this scene.
I'll be skimming a lot of it because I can't understand it all but it should get across the basic gist.
Homura recalls her past, her Middle School days, upon seeing the picture of the girl.
Back then she wasn't planning on becoming an evil ninja, she was actually from a good ninja clan. Ever since her first year of Elementary school she had been training to become a ninja.
Her teacher in Middle School was a kind male University graduate.
Every day she was training and under a lot of pressure from her parents, the stress built up.
Her teacher was a sort of 'oasis' for her. (Her actual words) He would listen to her talk about pointless things, etc.
He was a 'special existence' to Homura, however she can't really say if he was her first love.
In her second year she was talking to the teacher about her plans after Middle School. She says that her family is special and that she must take over her 'family business'. Her family being a ninja family is a secret of course so she couldn't say that she will be going to a ninja school.
Her teacher goes on to say that with her grades she can enter pretty much any High School, so why? If she wants to go to High School he can talk to her parents to persuade them.
Homura thinks that he's really kind, someone who doesn't lie, etc. She wants to tell him the truth.
She proceeds to tell him about her situation and asks him to keep it secret. She says it's up to him to decide whether to believe her.
He says he believes her and asks to explain more.
After listening intently Homura finishes, the teacher's face/atmosphere changes. "Finally caught the tail" (an expression I take to mean he's finally gotten ahold of the information he wants) "Die" he says.
He starts to attack Homura.
Homura asks why.
"Because I'm an evil ninja"
Something else happens then Homura asks if he'd been targeting her why was he so kind.
He explains that he needed to confirm the identity of Homura so he put on a persona.
"Then why didn't you just use torture" asks Homura.
He says how he doesn't like torture, "befriending and then betraying is the best" he says.
Homura starts to cry a little.
The teacher says how this is the face that gives him the most pleasure. This might be his best work (the best face he's seen), he questions Homura and asks did she actually fall in love with him.
Homura snapped. She doesn't remember a thing that happened after that other than a blood stained teacher's face.
She says if she hadn't met that evil ninja she might've just been a normal Middle School student.
She got thrown out of her home because of this act, her parents didn't even listen to her pleas.
Betrayed by people and disowned by her parents she wandered the streets.
She gets confronted by a woman in the streets, she'd been looking for her, the person who killed Komichi (the teacher).
The woman gives Homura a pamphlet for Hebijou so she goes.
When there she asks if it's okay for her to join considering she killed their comrade.
"The past doesn't matter, Hebijou welcomes anyone. Evil ninja's are more tolerant than good ninjas."
It was then that she got the name Homura (I think).
And so that was Homura's past. It's quite interesting that had she not done what she did she could've attended a certain other school.
