mynintendonews.com/2012/10/13/shigeru-miyamoto-stepping-down-as-nintendo-ead-general-manager-this-december/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebookThis actually makes way for new IPs from Nintendo, now. Hopefully third-parties wont have to compete with Nintendo's games, the Wii's top-ten best-selling games were all Mario games, despite good third party games on the Wii. To be honest, I never really foresaw any more Mario games after Mario Bros. U and the 2 coming for the 3DS. Publishers probably don't have to worry about their titles being overshadowed by Mario and Zelda. We could see more localizations for both of Nintendo's consoles now that there is no excuse for gamers not to buy them. What do you think of this whole ordeal? Would publishers be less cautious about localizing games now? Would gamers start paying more attention to niche games on Nintendo platforms? Would this give SK more of a chance of getting localized? Sound off below...or perish in flames!

Or less polished games. I was all for Him stepping down before but after what happend with Kojima when he tried to leave and the team could not even put a game out im not so sure. I know nintendo is not in a bad spot like Konami so this may not happen but still something to think about.
The one thing about Miyamoto is he never got emotionaly atatched to games so he was able to do what he want and change the games how he wanted alot of producers just can not do this.
Publishers always have to fear the Nintendo name thats not going to change.

Publishers always have to fear the Nintendo name thats not going to change. The reason for that fear was because of Nintendo's all ready established franchises like Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, etc. I'd feel more iffy about releasing next to an established Nintendo franchise that already has mass fan-appeal. And I wasn't talking about already established franchises like Metal Gear, I was leaning towards localized games that deserve more of a chance, like JRPGs. Miyamoto isn't Nintendo's saving grace, there's still games like Fire Emblem and others. Do game's like Senran Kagura and Project X Zone get overshadowed by Nintendo's games in Japan like they would in the US? That's what I was really asking.

No. 3DS is the lead platform in japan and nintendo talks with publishers to set up release windows for games. In the us NOA does nothing because they are not the lead platform and they are struggling. It would help if they published the games though since thats the only way people will know about new 3DS games

I know the articles are saying "new IP" and all but I don't think we'll be seeing something in the next year.
The reason Nintendo's games won't suffer a loss of quality like other developers. Normally they put someone in charge that Miyamoto has bread & trained to make games like him in this case the guy behind Super Mario 3D Land.
As for the "new talent" knowing Miyamoto he'll break them in with something like F- Zero or Star Fox before getting to work on a new IP. Plus Miyamoto wants to make new entries in those franchises according to an interview he did before E3.
For players it sounds good on paper, horrible for the publishers that threw out quick cash in games on all systems last generation. But it is just one of those "wait and see" situations right now because it could go terrible for Nintendo.

For me Nintendo games been at a quality loss for years. I count both gameplay as well as cutting edge graphic's. No since others have to do both and Nintendo can just slide.
Don't even talk about online.
Nintendo from what it looks like is betting everything on Retro again like they did with Metroid to pull out that WTF game form no where.

Well, another good thing to come out of Miyamoto stepping down is that Nintendo can start focusing on it's other franchises. If anything, we need another F-zero or Star Fox JackAtlas, because they've only focused on Mario lately. What really needed to happen was for them to rely on other things besides Mario.
I wanted to post this because I still didn't feel that I was getting my point across with previous post. The point is, games weren't coming over as often because people only buy "Triple A" titles in North America. Thank your fellow gamers for less 3rd Party/localization games.
This is good because people will have no other choice but to buy other games.

Knowing Miyamoto he will try breaking in new developers on either F-Zero or Star Fox before getting to work on new IP. Not to mention Miyamoto has stated he wants to work on those franchises in an interview. Also that guy really needs to check his facts all the way back to the gamecube era. Nintendo fans do buy AAA third party games go look at any Sonic The Hedgehog game, SoulCalibur II's gamecube sales, Resident Evil 4 and other games by 3rd party publishers that are worth buying and not crippled by the publisher because it was on a Nintendo system. I mean when statements like this are made by the assholes developing the next Smash Bros. it's hard to discuss/debate you on your points. www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=188038As for why most publishers are going bankrupt this generation. Again the guy in the video needs to check his facts, because the ones nearing bankruptcy have supported Sony and Microsoft heavily this generation. This is an article that I believe would help a lot of people on the Xseed Unchained Blades forum section. www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/07/02/the-rise-of-costs-the-fall-of-gaming/The problem with me debating you on your question is Nintendo players hardly got AAA games this generation because of the Wii's power and that was it. If anyone should be at "fault" it should be Sony and Microsoft players for buying yearly releases of Call of Duty.

Whoa, hold it right there! Why in god's name would I try to piss you off? Only the first paragraph was directed at you, the second paragraph was to start a general debate. And the guy was talking about this gaming generation and why publishers don't want to bring games over from Japan. Maybe I should have just started a new topic.

And the guy was talking about this gaming generation and why publishers don't want to bring games over from Japan. Maybe I should have just started a new topic. One the guy in the video pretty much blamed everything on Nintendo gamers instead of gamers in general. Not to mention every time he said Fuck to "emphasize" his points. That's what pissed me off. Two if he was talking about this generation specifically (360, PS3 & Wii) I hate to break it to him but just like what happened to Mitt Romney on Tuesday during the debate, there's going to be people to fact check everything he said. He probably discredits Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, The Conduit, MadWorld sells because he's too lazy to number crunch and do research on those 3 games. TvC actually made money for Capcom worldwide. The Conduit exceeded expectations. The Conduit 2 under performed because Sega only shipped 100,000 copies. Whereas the original sold more then 500,000 according to High Voltage and sales data. MadWorld ended up selling well because of the controversy. The reason publishers aren't localizing games like they used too is because Sony as a company (games,TVs,music etc) is going bankrupt. So something on the PS3 or Vita could cost a company like Xseed or an indie developer their company if a game flopped. Microsoft can afford to take huge risks. Not to mention they pretty much have all of the western developers tied around their finger and could have a console living off of shooter clones. Sony just made the mistake of getting into a pissing contest with them. And Nintendo is damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they didn't localize Xenoblade they obviously don't care about the "hardcore" gamer or gamers in general even though it was at the end of the Wii's lifetime. Getting Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive because without Nintendo publishing there would not be a "Bayonetta 2." How dare Nintendo, right? (Still waiting on those damn Kid Icarus Uprising AR packs to be available in stores Nintendo!) Honestly if anyone should be blamed it's third parties because of the stupid "wait and see" approach most of them take after a console by Nintendo is curb stomping the competition. Instead of going off a "demographic" when deciding to make a product. Maybe publishers should get in their heads that people don't settle for the scrapes from the better games.
