Crossplay is a feature... And Takaki is also striving to use all of the features on the consoles and handhelds. Damn, he's pulling all the punches, this seems like an all or nothing endeavor, it must sell or the series will suffer the worst ending of all as mobile only games. Also, that will mean the fanservice will go up dramatically and we'll have a lot more options in the changing room. Estival Versus needs to have the partner system of SK2, I like the system and want Yomi and Minori teaming up. If Takaki really wants Estival Versus to succeed he'll need to add New Wave girls in as playable characters, having mobile only characters in a video game with the main cast is something no other developer has done this generation, even Bandai-Namco failed to do this and may fail again when the next Idolm@ster comes around.

Now with the low sells of SK2 do you think they will just make this game all TnA and drop most of the gameplay? Arw the games getting too hard or boring for the fan base. I imagine a significant factor in sales was that it cost more than the average 3DS game (I believe I read 500-1000 yen more than the previous entries?) and the fact that some of the new elements might have been considered jarring, like the focus on monster fights. That's a pretty significant addition. The change in gameplay, rather than the gameplay existing at all, might have also been a factor - fans of things aren't exactly the most welcome to change. I could understand a spinoff getting drastic changes like this (ala SV), but a sequel going through a total overhaul is a bit odd if you ask me. That said though, they really can't go back to the formula Burst had again, at least not with that kind of narrative. My biggest hope for EV is that they learn something from the top-notch fighting games. I agree that SV is a very entertaining game, but it is not a masterpiece like Tekken 6 or Street Fighter. The biggest problem is caused by the unbalanced system. If the system encourage players to spam powerful moves that the benefit is way bigger than risk, the technique and experience it require to play it becomes much lower. And the lasting appeal is decreased greatly. For example, if the df2 launchers in Tekken 6 becomes safe on block, Tekken won't be the Tekken that keeps some many players intrigued, pratice and fight for so many years. The cancelling system in SV is the cause of this problem. The cancel is totally unlimited, which means the stun after a powerful move is meaningless that it can be cancelled, so there is literally no high risk high benefit moves that all that the highly benefitial moves are low risk which is ridiculous. In street fighter 4, the moves like shoryuken leave you wide open if you didn't hit the opponent, and if you want to cancel it you need to spend meters. That's why there are such interesting mind games and techniques in street fighters. Personally, for EV I hope the offline modes have more stages that need to be completed in 5 to 8 minutes rather than those 1-2 minutes missions in SV. So the whole battle is more satisfying and worth the long loading time lol. For the online modes, I hope they add a dash gauge to limit the dash can be used in a short duration. eg. For Miyabi she can dash 3 times in every 5 sec and Hikage can dash 10 times in 10 sec, so the characteristics of characters are presented better and the balance would be much improved. Another thing is on the hiden ninpo, now there are too many hiden ninpo that unleash immediately and is even unblockable, so it requires very low effort to land them on other players. I hope they make all hiden ninpo blockable and need to be used in combos to hit the opponent. Thus the vs modes would be closer to the classic figithing games rather than a game that is entertaing but can't be taken seriously. I actually disagree with this. A lot of this (particularly the fighting game stuff) seems to be concentrated on the PvP aspect of the game, but that's... a relatively minor thing in the grand scheme of things. It's a thing you can do, sure, but the core game shouldn't start to get influenced by an offshoot mode. The game works the way it does with the CPU stages in mind. To be fair, SV was SK's first Musou game, so, I'm sure Takaki took down some notes on what needs to be improved and wrote down some ideas that can make EV better than SV. SV really doesn't play like a Musou game. I'll never understand the comparison, but having played both extensively, I just don't see it. It's more like a standard brawler. Playstation exclusive meaning its on two systems. Vita is pretty much in because why exclude its safe fan base. It will then be a case of ps3, ps4 or both. That's a bit worrisome, actually, though isn't it old news? Either way, either it'll be a game made for consoles and it might not be as handheld friendly, or it'll be a handheld-focused game and the console upscale might not look as good. I wouldn't mind if they could just keep it exclusive to Vita, but that's life.

They could potentially do co-op though. I do believe there are some musou style games with co-op, such as Dynasty Warriors.

Moreover if you've played online modes I guess you'll find it much more interesting than playing with AI. The AI in SV is too linear and monotonous even in highest difficulty, that is to say you'll get bored quickly if you know the core mechanics of the game. When playing online the story is totally different that lots of players know what they're doing and fighting against them is much more interesting. AFAIK, I knew many people platinum the game and thought it is just an average musou-like game and they don't even know anything about the core mechanics of the game, which is absurd. But in the online community some of them may even ignore the offline modes after unlocking all characters. People's attention on the game just vary from person to person. Personally I think the core users who spend time to learn the strategies and find out new techniques are co-existing with casual gamers never play online or just for having fun in changing rooms. Either group of players are indispensable for the game and the developer need to keep the balance between them. The negative word-of-mouth from core users sometimes affect the opinion of light users heavily. As for the game itself I think it is similar to Sengoku Basara rather than Musou series, the stage design is quite linear and made up of closed area followed by another which is the same as Basara.

Takaki said on twitter "Will there be anything out this year?""I want more PS4 software"
No one knows what he is referring to though...
I doubt EV will be out this year, though it was announced a long time ago.

I think he meant, will there be any PS4 games out in Japan this year and yes there are 2 of them but if he wants system selling games then no, and we'll have to see at TGS if there any good ones coming in 2014, I doubt it, anything good announced at TGS is guaranteed to have a 2015 release date.

Yeah I agree with you. By the end of 2014 the competition seems to be extremely fierce...Super Smash Bros., Monster Hunter 4G, Bayonetta 2, New Fatal Frame, I doubt Marvelous will release anything by then.
Maybe Takaki just want to play more PS4 games lol
If there is anything new about EV in TGS next month that would be awesome.

I don't think it is a promotion but I feel SK2 is an experimental work to try out some new ideas. Maybe they'll make EV based on the feedback of both SKV and SK2.

The thing is, Basara is considered by many a Musou series knockoff, whereas I actually don't think this plays much like a Musou title at all. Regardless, I still stand by what I said. The core of the game is still the single player, and to change how it fundamentally works based on the multiplayer, which is good, I'm not denying that, seems like a very bad design decision. There can, at the very least, be some kind of medium as you say, rather than disregarding one side (the single player) in favor of going all out on the other (the multiplayer), but at the same time, giving such a small, even ignorable portion of the game (the multiplayer) the same kind of attention the rest of the game (the single player) needs and deserves isn't something I'm sure I can get behind either. So it is what it is, I guess.

the announcement is tomorrow what would you like out of the game? personally I still want the same girls to form new rivals like Katsuragi and Haruka as a new rival stuff like that. it is kinda olf now with the same rivals maybe thats why the last game did not do well you know what to expect from the characters now.
what are your thought s?
