So I managed to win a free copy of "Nights of Azure" from the Koei-Tecmo Twitter giveaway. I'm at chapter 2 now and it's not bad, if but pretty basic.
The standard gameplay is pretty streamlined and easy with some more in-depth item management with your makeshift allies and what-not. While the combat, so far, is fine it's not really mind-blowing. You have allies that you manage to some small degree with basic commands, and you have weapon styles that you personally can switch through. Combat is open-world with basic combo structure like square, square, triangle or square, square, circle for a special attack. The demon transformations are powerful and cool to look at, but only last about 30 seconds before you have to gather more blood to do it again.
The story is horrendously anime and the characters fit it accordingly. Nothing special, but it does move along alright.
The PS4 does not appear to be a good PS4 game in terms of graphics. Character movements are choppy during the vocal exchanges and many textures feel unpolished. The world itself seems okay, but the only residents on the entire island seem to be the handful of people in the hotel. Aside from them and the monsters, the world is pretty barren.
Anyone else playing this? For all its faults, it's not a bad game but is far from great. At the very least, it's entertaining.
