it makes the original look like a too linear shooter, and has the greatest first person martial arts ever
I think it if were a dedicated beat em up instead of parkour game, it would be more popular. emphasis on platforming gets dull and too pacifist for civilizations that crave violence.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a brilliant game!, thoroughly enjoyed playing through it, just wish they added DLC to it, made the City Even bigger to explore and hopefully make a 3rd Mirror's Edge!

it is so massively and amazingly constructed and seamlessly put together. the people saying it was just a small hub with linear missions made it sound like it was SM64 or something like that. it truly feels open world. and they actually fixed the first person view with the awesome FOV settings which made it possible for the body to actually look more realistically visible instead of the camera down to the waist (which was bs in the previous game. people can see their body from the chest down) this is the most immersive first person since the PC version of Project Eden.
and the martial arts combat is AMAZING! dumb people complaining about forced fights, when any fan that understood Mirror's Edge know that it would be boring if it was just about running/parkour. there is plenty of that, but fighting back makes it more entertaining and like a next gen beat em up in those cases.
and people saying the first one is better, when they complained about the linearity, lack of different things to do, not wanting to be forced to use guns. Catalyst basically fixed 99% of the issues and shortcomings the previous game had.
it was just total hateful sabotage the mainstream did to underrate Mirror's Edge, just because it's from EA. if mirror's edge wasn't made before, and suddenly, an overhyped brand like Nintendo introduces Mirror's Edge Catalyst on their console, made in the same way it is now, millions would be praising Catalyst more than Metroid, Donkey Kong and Star Fox combined. Faith would've been an all star celebrity in that case.
its just brand spite among other things that vastly underrate it. and this is the most gorgeous futuristic game ever crafted. and they are still just scratching the surface. there is much that can be learned from ME:C but yea, unjustified reception from the clueless mainstream crowd out there. it's not even close to being my favorite genre, but I still value its great aspects. and Faith looks 100x better than her previous incarnation, and the story is 2x greater in my opinion.
