I know you have a HUGE thing for character creation, but series like SK would be better off without it. And Sonic... well, it'll be cringey for sure. I think you vastly overestimate the allure of character creation, especially of the Sonic variant. If someone doesn't like Sonic games, I highly doubt this'll change their minds.

I think you vastly overestimate the allure of character creation, especially of the Sonic variant. If someone doesn't like Sonic games, I highly doubt this'll change their minds. dont underestimate people's desire and preference to choose what they want to be, no matter the world or game. of course the CO system will have guidelines, but that is an advantage in itself since people can make more respectable designs instead of some of those deviantart nightmares. but the more freedom the better. I played Sonic games since the first one, I always preferred making my own character, so I moved away from the series after Sonic Adventure 1, and even though they opened up with a little more diversity, it still wasn't enough to keep me interested in the series, but Sonic Forces is changing everything with character creation and valuable feature that will make the game worth playing. character creation is always better than force fed characters. though a combination of both like Xenoverse does it, providing both character creation, and premades to choose from, is fine. but it sohuld be player's choice, not the devs. people can ALWAYS come up with superior ideal characters and designs they prefer to be and play as, better than the developers preferences and tastes. character creation removes a large part of the dictatorship devs have over games. and more freedom is more fun and personalization. it has priceless values, without it, there's really no where near as fun, if even any fun to begin with, and if a game doesn't have that and people dislike the character(s) provided, no point in playing it. no money/interest to the devs then. so character creation always matters, and the more options the better.

I like character creation in games.
I am going to see if I can create my cat in Sonic Forces. Great bonus for a game I already planned on buying.
On SK, I'd say the character customization has enough options you could argue augmented at a certain stage becomes creation.

Well not really into the whole idea of it. But it seems like a good idea for SEGA to cater to their fans with this. Also if I do get Sonic Forces when it comes out, you'd be betting I'd be making this famous Sonic meme.

I'd like character creation in SK. SK pretty much already has the framework for it ready, all they need to do is add fighting style, body, and face customization (restricted to new characters of course) and it will be ready to go. I would hope they'd let us write our character bios in-game as well though, because without that the feature would be almost meaningless (since SK is so character-driven). Just ban custom characters from online multiplayer to avoid pissing off people who don't like the feature, and everyone wins.

Thats my point though. You project your OC obsession onto everything and apparently everyone. False. If the developers want to tell THEIR story, they do it how they want. What are you gonna do next, OC Mario? Is Link no longer going to be the hero, but instead Sir Darklord72? C'mon. I know you love it, emphasis on love it, but thats just a silly concept. It simply does not fit certain games. [Citation needed] (Also limited by what options the devs manage to get into the game. If theres no options you like or the custom character has garbage dialogue or something, it would always be better with a pre-written character. Or if you want freedom from the devs and character creation means THAT much to you, you could just not play it Unless the options dont suit your tastes, which counteracts your own point about it always being better. You're just incredibly opinionated and are absolutely convinced that your opinion has to be the correct one that directs the flow of the gaming industry, which is, in all honesty, absolutely stupid. Also, you do realize that character creation won't save this game or make it goty if the rest of the game sucks, right?

I dunno dude custom ninjas sounds too much and complicated I mean really just think about it >you'd have people with the same customs with large boobs or butts >same academy >probably everyone would make SK characters that are not in the game yet Memes aside people might take this the wrong way or somethin, if Sonic Forces doesnt work then i guess custom ninjas might not either I'd doubt this would be Goty since we can make our own custom characters anyways since people already got a bad feelin since it has wisps and boosting that they dont want anymore
Sure i played every sonic game but i dont call on it yet before i see more stuff, and probably goes for the same with senran

Not another one of these threads! Arguments like "Games can only be good with self-insertion" seriously give me a headache. Especially when the speaker is completely unwilling to entertain other viewpoints.

I'm back 6 months later to remind you that Sonic Forces is certainly not game of the year. In fact, its not even game of its own month.
