In this thread, you simply agree or disagree if Asuka is a good protagonist of the series or not. You can also feel indifferent with it. With that said, let's get started. In my opinion, with everything that happened, starting with the two arcs in SKB to the two timelines (3DS and Versus), I'd say she's a competent protagonist. While I do think her overall character is rather vanilla, that doesn't mean that she's bad. See, she starts off as rather naive, especially when she didn't learn the concept of being a sword and shield or when she was interacting with Homura at first. Although, as the story continued, she began to understand Homura and the rest of Hebijo (Before they became Crimson Squad) better while also learning about being a sword and shield by helping out her teammates. Fast Forward to SK2 and SV specifically, her development does show in both games as she became less naive and more mature, mainly when serious stuff was going down. I can't say much about her in EV since I felt that her and everyone in Hanzo and Crimson Squad were shafted in favor of New Hebijo and Gessen, so that those two groups could get their time to shine and development. With all of that said though, Asuka has a promising future as a protagonist of the series. I wish her luck and I hope to see her grow as a person and a character. I still think she's vanilla but she's cute, outgoing, optimistic, and rather likeable... With some innuendos with her love for futomaki rolls. Lol Fight on, Asuka.

She started off as a serviceable protagonist, but lately seems to have been swept aside. She does need something to make her less generic, though. Especially since the addition of Gessen and New Hebijo, she really doesn't have anything special that draws you to her or makes her stand out.
But overall, while she might not be outstanding, she does the job.

Better than Yumi, to be frank.

Yeah I do think that she's a good protagonist, but who says you can just have one?

All in all I say Asuka is pretty good, but she really needs some type of hilarious quirk like how Homura does those poses, Yumi's puri puri, or Miyabi problems with her manly looks. All she got right now is being Hanzo's granddaughter and thats honestly not enough.
Character development wise I would say she's going at a good place more specifically that ending of PBS with her and Homura was a good point of potential growth( thought I did not know exactly want they were saying).

I like Asuka as a protagonist but I feel that she is outdone by the other females. These days it feels as if Yumi is the protagonist

I don't know if SK needs a protagonist in the traditional sense. Asuka is a good character, but it is team focused and as the cast grows easy to get lost in the shuffle. I'd be fine with her staying around or the focus moving elsewhere.

I like Asuka as a protagonist but I feel that she is outdone by the other females. These days it feels as if Yumi is the protagonist I'd actually go as far as to say that there is no main character anymore. The writing is kind of all over the place, and in Estival in particular, it kind of felt like they were having trouble deciding where they wanted to place their focus.
