like this is no better than racism. I understand how some are upset over it. its kinda like on a different subject, the race subject regarding discrimination and disrespectful treatment of blacks for example, Im not black, but I still understand and am against racism against blacks or any other race.
same goes for sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc. Developers shouldn't be so hateful and in opposition of this or that kind of person.
Everyone deserves to be happy the way they want to be, and not conform to what they dont want to be. there is also the issue of Atlus, especially their Persona and SMT directors, being so discriminatory and inconsiderate to the female demographic. theres too few female protagonists in their series and they still dont care to at least provide a female protagonist as an alternative option. The last time they did that for a core Persona/SMT game, was Persona 3 Portable and Shin Megami Tensei NINE (which wasnt localized)
so yea Atlus does really have corrupt leadership here and there. and it is strange cause some would think Japan would be more progressive and open minded than the west, but Atlus seems very conservative and disrespectful to beliefs outside of their own philosophies and strict ideals. though I would say much of this discrimination within the industry is within certain developers.
there was some Japanese gamer responses that think its not an issue and people upset over it are not right in the mind, which is nonsense., but those in defense of Atlus, are from people that dont even respect people outside their own beliefs, so overall, there is a lot of discrimination going on. like its bad enough even ciswomen are often not represented as much as males in Atlus RPGs and videogames. now Atlus even has issue with a transgender, a character they themselves created, and have them not transition and think they are happy as the sex they aren't comfortable with? that is so transphobic of them. now Im not a LGBT advocate, but I feel no one should be disrespected nor oppressed to be what they dont want to be, whether its a career, or a religion, or a way of life, or whatever. Atlus changing a transgender character's life (who perceived themself as a heterosexual woman), and swapped their life transitioning to female, to INSTEAD living as gay man !!!! that's so sad and I understand how people are deeply offended by this On top of that. Rin is an alien, but it has male genitalia. what the fuck is Atlus really that fearful of the female sex/gender??? they should be disgusted with themselves and their psychos that are steering their games and stories in such hateful and phobic directions.
sigh, with examples like this, theres even less expectations of SMT V including option to play as female protagonist instead. if Atlus cant even give a transgender character what they want, what do they think of male and female gamers that are frequently requesting female protagonist in core SMT and Persona RPGs, at least as an alternative option? Atlus seems very hateful these days. but it could be dependant on whos doing the director and stuff. If they had different people controlling the projects, they could be more considerate and not so discriminatory overall. Atlus really has yet to have the right people in charge so they dont disrespect nor lack representation of different kinds of human beings in respectful ways.
and its really a shame, cause SMT and Persona and other IPs in Atlus, have so much more potential if they started to make standard stuff like letting players decide the protagonist's sex, with the story adapatable to both types. would think if Atlus diversifies its protagonist identity options, even they themselves could learn a thing or two from different perspectives, and people different from themselves.
so yea the bias and discrimination and conservative views really are corrupting Atlus.
