The Sims 3 is amazing on PS3 in my opinion, and The Sims 4 is generations greater than that! I skipped the tutorial and Im still learning things at a good pace and its so wonderful they added 1st person option, which opens up more immersive roleplaying possibilities! I often play in first person mode, and its so great theres lots of settings and customization tweaks to shape one's own playstyle and experiences!
for those that arent of the self taught kind, and think the tutorial might not be enough, here's an example of a player teaching how they play The Sims 4, so some tips and footage can help beginners understand some of the basics (just note their method of playing and learning is A WAY, not the way. so may learn better from experimentation and self taught styles. though their guide can be a headstart for some. as people understand the gameplay, controls and ins and outs, the more rewarding and great the game becomes!)
overall, patient and creative players can find lots to do with the game and find different ways to play it!
it is also refreshing from all those movie driven and ultra violent games (which a lot of gamers like, but its good to have other types of games too)
so this unique, rare yet special genre and masterpiece sequel is very valuable to play, even those that havent played The Sims before.
plus its so gorgeous! Western companies have bad reputation to some players, regarding some western games having ugly character designs (which is partially why a lot of people prefer anime/eastern games and find most Japanese games more appealing than western developed games), but very good looking and beautiful characters are possible in The Sims, plus it has very nice aesthetics, beautiful art direction, tasteful character designs, and pristine atmosphere, PLUS one of the best and tasteful hairstyle selections in the whole game industry overall (ever hate those games that only have one good long hairstyle? The Sims 4 has several good ones!) surpassing even what a lot AAA mmorpgs offer (FFXIV could sure learn from it. too many short and tied up hairstyles, not enough long flowing hairstyles, perhaps Viera race will fix that. heck even Conan Exiles has better hair long hairstyle selection than FFXIV).
The Sims games dont come every year, I think the previous The Sims game (3) came out on PS3 like 13 years ago !! So its perfect timing and a great deal to get The Sims 4 now for those that are interested! Though I say the game is worth $60 or more. This genre is so rare and valuable! I woulda gotten it day 1 back then, but was occupied with so much games, so I purchased it this week just in time to save like 80%!
and those that think a PC game like this genre is too clunky on console, thats really not true. The Sims 3 played fine on PS3, and The Sims 4 feels even more comfortable on PS4. a lot of us wouldnt play it if it was PC only, so a lot of fans appreciate its playable on PS4 (saves us hundreds of dollars), and the UI is awesome, effecient, with great options and conveniences to understand the controls and stuff.
so yea its an opinion, perhaps some may find this news of some use. a lot of fans are getting their money's worth, some playing it even longer than the highest rated RPGs!
of course, it cant really be compared to other genres. its kind of like gaming mostly on rpgs and mmorpgs, action games, FPS, TPS and stuff, but having the latest The Sims game to play on PS4, is a great priviledge and valuable to those that are interested in that ultra rare genre, which The Sims is the champion at doing right on PC and consoles!
so the wider the spectrum of gamer genre interests, the more kinds of games they can find entertaining and good.

yea some hardcore and meticulous The Sims fans may claim its worse than the previous ones (but thats what Fire Emblem fans say about modern Fire Emblem, but its really subjective and opinion based. Fire Emblem Fates sold more than it ever did in the past), but I as well as anyone that agrees, feel that The Sims 4 is several steps up from its predecessors.
some things were a trade off, but its so amazing and has more essential pros than cons, theres no need to play the older Sims games, so it gets approval from me and worthy successor in the franchise.
The Sims 4 is underrated by some, and cherished by others. yea, The Sims is generally promoted and perceived as playing god over others lives, however it can also be played as a self insert roleplaying life game too. It's quite flexible in how its played and reasons to play it and ways to experience The Sims 4.
So its a gamer recommendation for those interested in the genre. Its not for everyone, but this news/finding could be valuable to those that find The Sims 4 to be worthwhile, and for only $8, I think some agree thats a good deal for the most beautiful and ambitious life sim game ever.
