there appears to be more waves after the demo besides the ones inbetween the adventure parts
demo has 3 difficulty settings
the primary demo playthrough has battles, though those are more like tutorials
attack party of 6 is customizable after beating the demo which unlocks the battle/adventure/archives selection screen (and can press options and choose save as a nice shortcut to get to that menu whenever launching the demo)
the battle system is great. it seems simple keeping enemies away from the objective, though perhaps on harder difficulty and advanced waves things get intense
though it has a nice interface. squad members can move to any part of the 3D map, there are zooming options, each action has a cinematic preview of what kind of action it is, each action can have different areas of effect and uses.
the actual violence has a digital style to it, but still cool, this scale of conflict would be tedious if they went with the conventional SRPG style. so its great they didnt scale down their ambitions. I mean its no Front Mission Alternative, but I find this battle system quite amusing in its own unique ways.
plus the interface is gorgeous!
and the status menu for each character previews pages of extensive skills to unlock, upgradable components and other nice complex systems. it will be interesting learning the full scope of its systems. I think the full game could have more combat than the demo hints at, especially if the post game features battles as its own selection.
