Code of Princess was Agatsuma Entertainment’s first attempt at making a game designed for core gamers. They pulled together a strong team – the creators of Guardian Heroes and former Capcom artist Kinu Nishimura to design the game’s world. The gamble paid off for Agatsuma Entertainment.
"In Japan, it sold so-so, but in the US Code of Princess sold beyond our expectations," producer Yasuo Nakajima said to Siliconera.
I asked Nakajima if he was planning on making Code of Princess 2. "Kinu-san already has ideas about Code of Princess 2 in mind already," Nakajima replied. "If Code of Princess 2 goes into development maybe it will be for consoles like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. I want to develop it a sequel to Code of Princess for core gamers like fans that are anticipating Dragon’s Crown now."
Code of Princess 2 is not currently in development since Agatsuma just finished Farewell Umihara Kawase. Nakajima said if they develop Code of Princess 2 for consoles they would need a bigger team and if the timing works out they will try to bring the Guardian Heroes developers back for the sequel.

Here's the point, the game was a risk and it sold better than anticipated in the US. I could not find concrete sales numbers, but it sold roughly 30K in its first week and went on to sell roughly 60-80K. Now note this exceeded expectations, so they might have done this figuring on selling 40-50K total to be happy.
Is this a realistic goal for Senran Kagura Burst? Are the games enough alike in terms of costs to bring over and expected sales to be comparable?
Niche beat em up on 3DS with questions about localization. Seems about as close an example as I could find. Well done on Atlus taking a risk on it and it performing well for them.
