Just started Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy - Side: Future. Can't wait for the next episode and also Side: Despair !!!! I just watched the first episode, and I already love it. The only thing I'm uncomfortable with is Bandai and his weird design and voice.

He kinda creeped me out. That was until I heard his voice. It's gonna take me a while to get used to it !!!!

I know this is unrelated and all but I didn't want to make this into a separate thread. I've noticed that 2016 has been an unusual year for anime because unlike the previous years, there hasn't been a truly "groundbreaking" anime that came out which sparked a lot of hype, became popular, and is remembered as one of the best anime of the decade. To recap, here's the list of the anime "kings" that came out in the last five years.
2011: Puella Magi Madoka Magica 2012: Sword Art Online (This was before it became trash.) 2013: Attack on Titan 2014: Tokyo Ghoul 2015: One Punch Man
Notice a trend here? These are all anime that dominated their respective years. It's already halfway through 2016 now and there hasn't been an anime worthy of the "king" spot. Right now, it's a three-way split between Phantom World, KonaSuba, and Re:Zero, but even that is uncertain whether or not one of these will become 2016's anime of the year.

I mean, I can understand why SAO became loathed after a while (coughfairydancecough) but I heard AoT is still really popular in North America. That, and the long awaited hype for the second season which is finally in the works. Though mind you, I haven't watched the anime adaption of AoT. I have only read the manga.

There has been lots of animes this year and many has tried but the fanbase is kinda yet to select which one is the coolest. I think by end of year, we might see something which will take anime of the year title. After all, even 3 to 4 months could be enough for that. As I said here earlier, out of your options, I probably enjoyed KonoSuba the most but KonoSuba to some really isn´t nothing special. Especially when it starts, it´s quite funny but few EP´s after that, are having lots of nonsense, it goes pretty slowly and starts to get forward just when the party gets together. Then comes to final which to surprisingly many was also way too rushed, probably because them didn´t expected it to be popular and sticked with decision of only 10 episodes. I guess it´s popularity is more based for the gaming world and that most people see something similar to characters on themselves and how them has felt while gaming. I´ve also heard that KonoSuba in other forms is much more interesting and describe more characters and make a "better image about the world". As someone who liked Aqua the most, I must have to say I am pretty tempted to check more about it. but considering what I´ve read, how people feels, out of those options, I would give the price to Re: Zero. Lets say I would also be fine with it.

Well if KonaSuba didn't turn out as well as the hype made it out to be, then Phantom World and Re:Zero are all that's left. Re:Zero as of now appears to be the strongest contender for 2016's anime of the year, assuming that Phantom World didn't flop (I haven't watched it yet so I can't be sure).
Then again, there's also a chance that another upcoming anime will come in and sweep these two off their feet. I mean, look what happened in 2015. It was thought Danmachi was going to take that title due to all the Hestia hype going on, until One Punch Man came in and completely dethroned it. There could be still surprises waiting ahead.

Of course, not everything is supposed to be perfect like that, but people are going to like it regardless if it's good or bad.

Though Re:Zero is quickly climbing up the popularity ranks so Boku no Hero Academia will likely face some hard competition. It's still too early to determine 2016's anime of the year yet.

Also I'm p sure Phantom World isn't in the running, because isn't that just the one with the anime tiddy limbo scene? I haven't seen anyone actually talk about it aside from that scene.

If that's the case, then it's out of the picture entirely. Plus, Esare noted that Academia is really underrated so it actually may affect its chances of taking the 2016 spot. Looks like Re:Zero is the obvious contender for the title.

Yeah I have seen pretty good things about Re:Zero. In fact I was thinking about watching it. And I guess BnHA was more popular with oversees fans, because I thought it was pretty popular from what I saw of it.
