I got the full experience of Shiki's "valley-girl" speech pattern over the past couple weeks. Like, srsly, I totally didn't think she, like, sounded like that, for realz!... It's contagious. Yet on her, it's not as annoying as the real thing. Almost charming in a way.

Hey guys, exactly why did Shiki became a Shinobi? BIIIG SPOILER WARNING Shiki's parents were shinobi who were killed in action when she was young. Because their mission was classified, no-one would tell her what happened. She was infuriated at both the loss of her parents and being left in the dark about their last moments. At their funeral, Kurokage, Yumi's grandfather, found her and offered to adopt her since she was now an orphan. Kurokage enrolled her, as well as the rest of his new adopted family into the Gessen academy so that they could become strong and learn the ways of good shinobi. Shiki herself, was most likely motivated to become a good shinobi to protect others and spare them the fate her parents suffered, as well as to be close to her beloved new family. Phew! I warned ya! |

Well, I looked up a walkthrough before I got the translated game, so I was given alot of spoilers too. Besides, that was just her basic backstory, nothing "plot-twist" orientated.
