I'm quite fascinated with the bomb, the Cold War and the culture surrounding them, so I might as well explain to you about these 4 1980s movies that dealt with the subjects of global nuclear ahnillilation, which were released way back when the Cold War was at it's peak. Keep in mind these films aren't like WarGames at all, as they explicitly depict nuclear warfare: The Day After - It may be dated and cheesy, but if you look beyond those parts the film has a harrowing message that "there's no winners in a nuclear war". Then again, while the film was graphic for the time it doesn't beat the next film... Threads - This British take on The Day After is twice as gruesome and shocking, but it carried over the same message in a more bleaker, documentary-like format. The War Game - It's the 60s predecessor to Threads, but it was too shocking for BBC executives at the time, so much so that the film remained unshown on television until 1985. However, it was released in theaters and afterwards won an academy award. Future War 198X - It's essentially the obscure anime version of The Day After that had a baby with Barefoot Gen, this time the major difference from the previous movies above is that the film deals with {Spoiler} accidental nuclear war.
Sorry if these films freaked you out, but they were too darn interesting to talk about. There's plenty more films that I'm going to talk about later though!
