It will be expensive as hell. Well, yeah. VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray were all ridiculous when they first arrived. However, if this follows the trend of those three then the price drops will happen quickly. The big question is if people will adopt this. Once the conversion to DVD happened, VHS just died. With Blu-Ray, many people are still happy with DVD and you often see combo packs with one of each. So, I could see this format in "Ultimate Editions" with three formats and digital download to test the waters. What happened with 3D with...mixed results. First thing is you need people to buy 4K televisions like they bought HDTVs. Even if they do I would say were a decade away from the tipping point of that so this format will likely not be relevant...unless Sony uses the PS5 in 2020 as a Trojan horse like it did DVD and PS2 and Blu-Ray and PS3.

Its likely this not aimed at films and more storage and gaming. Its possible that bluray players may be able to use this.

So at base, it contains double the amount of storage space of a BD.
So with this, we can predict that when the anime industry finally adopts it, they'll release AD batch releases, which contains the entire series + bonus content on two discs at an inflated price that is economical (wait a few months extra, and the entire series released at about 75% price)
Alternatively, this will cause a massive drop in BD release price. I'm fine with either way.
