Suppose i should post mine: I will say why if anyone is interested. Find a common trend with these if you think you can but from what i can see there isn't one. Others i was thinking were the other 5 main Inifnte Stratos Girls, Rias or Akeno from Highschool DxD, Many others from Hyperdimension Neptunia or Attia Simmons from freezing.
I would of possibly put Murakumo down too but i don't know her well enough and i am not making the same mistake again.

So only anime/manga characters? Or is it okay if they didn't originate in an anime/manga if their series had an anime/manga?
VNs and LNs come to mind, for example. Game characters I imagine are disqualified for obvious reasons though.

Sebastian Michaelis from Black Butler. I am a heterosexual male, but I absolutely have a crush on him. Grell Sutcliff from Black Butler as well-He's a DEADLY EFFICIENT Shinigami. Make it three Black Butler characters...I love Undertaker too. Okabe Rintarou from Steins;Gate. An actual crazy mad scientist protagonist who may or may not be faking the crazyness. Kuuko from Haiyore! Nyaruko-San. A geeky lesbian girl who just happens to be the Elder God Cthugha And obviously I am in love with Haruka from -Take a wild guess-. Mei Misaki from Another. One of the most unique female characters in anime. I could probably list another dozen characters, but I'll stop now.

Favorite Female Characters (In No Particular Order)1. Yomi (WTF Else) Her backstory (which I won't beat a dead horse about) is one that can draw the audience's attention and makes her personality and relationships, especially with Ikaruga, all the more believable. 2. Kouko Kaminaga (Akuma no Riddle) The amount of specialized and multi-use explosives she has can't amount to the amount of depth her backstory has. To simplify, after seeing episode 4, you will genuinely come to miss this character and feel sorry for what she had to endure. 3. Mako Mankanshoku (Kill la Kill) Though not very three-dimensional, Mako is one of my favorites for how much of an over-the-top goofball she is. She steals almost every scene she's in and that's why she's so likable. 4. Yona (Yona of the Dawn) One of the best characters in terms of overall growth, Yona is a great example of how a person who had and lost everything can learn to adapt to a brutal world in order to survive another day.

Alright it's been over 2 years since I made my first list so imma make a second more current one: *warning this is gonna be long sooooooo yeah* 5. Akame (Akame ga Kill!) We start off the list with one of my waifus. Akame is one of many strong women on this list. What I love about Akame as a character is that originally we think she's gonna be one of those no-nonsense, always serious and stoic kinda characters. But she has her quirks (her love of meat amongst others), and we see very early on that she is a very emotional character. She broke down after the deaths of one of her closest friends. She simply tries not to think solely with her emotions. Other than that her design is very appealing to me. The piercing red eyes and the long black hair, combined with her simplistic yet practical outfit all makes for a nice sleek character. 4. Shouyo Hinata (Haikyuu!!) Hinata (yes that's his surname but everyone calls him by it) is the protagonist of Haikyuu!!, an anime about volleyball. Hinata is literal sunshine, both in personality and design. He's just such a happy guy and I find it kinda infectious. There's not really much to say here honestly. What he represents is pretty typical of sports (never give up blah blah blah etc), but his personality is just so fun and lovable I have to have him on my list. 3. Utena Tenjou (Revolutionary Girl Utena) Yet another strong female character, who really doesn't give a crap about gender roles. She wants to be a prince after being so impressed by a prince she met when she was very young. What I love about Utena is just how human she is. Utena is very young (only 14) and she's thrown into basically what's called the "End of the World" which basically represents adulthood, but the toxic side of adulthood, the lies people are told about adulthood. Meanwhile Utena represents youth, the tenacity, the opinions, the naivety. Utena is on many levels a very relatable character and I love her for it. 2. Rena Ryuugu (Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni) Speaking of relatable, here's #2 on the list, Rena Ryuugu. When I first watched Higurashi back in, say, 6th grade, I had a very... Complicated relationship with my parents. Rena did as well. Now our complications weren't identical (and I certainly didn't contemplate murder like she did) but they were parental issues all the same. Nowadays however I identify with her less psychotic side. The side of her we see in the very beginning of most arcs. The playful side that is very loving toward her friends. I wouldn't say I'm as clingy as she is, but we both dote on out friends and remind them they're loved and we think they're amazing. Most of my friends call me the "mom friend" of the group, something I could very well see Rena as. 1. Anthy Himemiya (Revolutionary Girl Utena) And my favorite anime character (currently), is Anthy Himemiya, the Rose Bride and Utena's girlfriend. Anthy is just such an inspiring character. Anthy is representative of the way society views women, particularly the Madonna-Whore Complex, where basically you're either a "prude" or a "slut" (translated into the show as a "princess" or a "witch"). In the show, Anthy is played up as a princess, whereas she sees herself as a witch. But with the intervention of her "prince" Utena, she learns that she is neither, but her own person. I honestly can't do her character justice by just explaining it. It's something you have to see for yourself. So I recommend watching Revolutionary Girl Utena and seeing for yourself. Or, if you don't wanna watch it, and just want a better explanation of her character than I can give, then read this: fyeahcontroversialcharacters.tumblr.com/post/93142506849/in-defense-of-anthy-himemiya

Favorite Male Characters (In No Particular Order)
Bols (Akame ga Kill)
With characters like Bols, appearance isn't always everything. Even though he looks like a monster, looking past that you see a man who has tarnished the very face of his good nature in order to provide for his girls. TAKE NOTES RELIUS! Soo Won (Yona of the Dawn)
Even though his actions at the beginning are definitely despicable even in his own eyes, Soo Won is shown to be a very patient and just leader for the people. Soo Won does have this presence throughout that makes him out as someone who isn't a bad person.
Ira Gamagori (Kill la Kill)
This is literally the first time he appears on screen. Gamagori has such an imposing appearance that he can intimidate almost any character. Like Mako, I like him actually like him more for how over-the-top he is.
Mugen (Samurai Champloo)
Like Gamagori, he's not the most complex character to appreciate, but the sheer lack of predictability in both his personality and fighting style, as well as Steven Blum's fantastic voicework, make him one of the more enjoyable characters for me to watch.

More of my Favorite Female Characters (In no Particular Order)
Esdeath (Akame ga Kill)
Esdeath is easily my favorite character in Akame ga Kill. Aside from her ice powers, Esdeath is an interesting character because of how the philosophy she was raised under give her some actual depth and how much her relationship with Tatsumi was developed.
Neptune/Purple Heart (Hyperdimension Neptunia Series)
Now for the totally radical Console Patron Unit of Planeptune, herself. Neptune has managed to be one of my favorites mainly for how much of a funny character she is. With fourth-wall jokes, video game references, and just how friendly and outgoing her personality is, not to mention the more serious personality of Purple heart, she manages to be one of the funniest characters I've watched.
Homura Akemi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
What else is there to say about this character? At first I didn't think much about this character. Come episode 10 and she's now my personal favorite character in the series. She's a badass who sacrificed everything to protect the one person who cared about her. You have my respects Ms. Akemi.
Stocking Anarchy (Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt)
Out of titular Anarchy Sisters, Stocking has to easily be my favorite. She's adorable and has a personality that I can't help but gravitate towards. And I could go on and on about how well she plays off of Panty.

More of my Favorite Male Characters (In No Particular Order)
Deadpool (Marvel Comics)
Let's start off with the literal cancer of the Marvel Comics universe. Though his backstory is a little depressing, Deadpool manages to dish out trash talk and fourth-wall jokes like clockwork while being nearly invincible with his healing factor.
The Scout (Team Fortress 2)
Pop quiz, how long does it take to beat a dead horse to pieces, BAAH sorry time's up it's in pieces. The scout is fun to play as with being a great choice for quick jobs and guerrilla tactics. His personality is also enjoyable, especially in his meet the video.
Luke fon Fabre (Tales of the Abyss)
Considering I use his image for most if not all of my social networking, of course I like him as a character. Even though he starts off as completely unlikable, he does grow as a character throughout the events of the game, even defeating the "real Luke" near the end of the game.
Hazama/Yuuki Terumi (Blazblue Series)
There's a reason people are convinced that he gave Hades from KI Uprising lessons in trolling. Even though he constantly goes out of his way to ruin many lives, including series protagonist Ragna, he keeps a fun-loving personality throughout all of it, and is miles better at being a sadistic character than Takechi from Akuma no Riddle.
