I dont believe digital sales will be that significative. I mean, Disagea 5 sold more than Estival.

You know, even though EV sold well overall with the combined sales of both the PS4 and the Vita Versions, I really don't think Takaki is going to abandon Nintendo and favor only Sony for the series. That will only lead to alienating a portion of the fanbase. Not to mentioned the series started with Nintendo. Ditching them now would just be wrong. Anyways, with EV finally released, the next game will most likely be a main game. My gut is telling me that Takaki might use the same strategy he used when developing EV, which is releasing the same game on console and handheld, so it's possible that the next main game could be released for the Wii U. As for the handheld version, he might go for the *new* 3DS due to the amount of horsepower it has over the regular 3DS. While doing so will alienate the peeps that only have the regular 3DS/2DS atm, it will work in a long run as long as Takaki advertise the game just as much as he did with EV. Not to mention people need more reasons to get a *new* 3DS since there's very few *new* 3DS exclusives at the moment. With that said, looking forward to the next main game of the series.

They could always go for an approach similar to ATLUS and Megaten, where the hugely popular Persona line is restricted to Sony consoles while all the others (specially the main line) is available for other consoles but the Sony ones.
I don't really care about consoles to be frank, as long the game is good I'm happy. Sadly there's a marked tendency on the SK fandom to diss and dismiss the 3DS just because its specs.

At this point it is done it is not a hardware problem it is a Nintendo problem. Going forward no one will pay for a tame game with no ova and drama cds are dead. You can't continue to push the envelope if the console maker does not support the risk.

Toning down the fanservice didn't kill Dead or Alive and the biggest and more popular franchises around have a minimal amount of fanservice in them or is a very small factor. And isn't like Nintendo outright bans questionable content either, you have Platinum and Grasshopper output on the Wii as well. A big part of the SK is in for the fanservice that is true, but comitting to only that is akin to sign the death sentence for the series. Since the fanbase won't grow and eventually they will drop the series for the next hot stuff. Does anyone remember Rumble Roses for example?

The PC port is of so little interest to TJ that they outsourced it and is a mess. Game doesn't run properly and it has countless bugs.
And while they could've sold less intially, the game was well received within the Fighting Game community earning it a spot on major events, thus increasing its exposure and the amount of people exposed to it. Fanservice is still there but since Itakagi lost control over the franchise it hasn't been the focus.
Keep in mind that we're talking of a series that had THREE games focused on ogling the girls, games that more or less killed the interest on the franchse.
If DOA could strike a balance between gameplay and fanservice, there's absolutely NO reason for SK to manage the same thing.

it's about what the paying fans want and they want sv style and ova's now. sk had A chance to get serious as you say but they messed up on so many levels they don't even recognize the characters that were made for the game at the least big boss battles should have stayed.

at the least big boss battles should have stayed. I won't be able to comment on these until I play myself, but all the gameplay videos I've seen just make those look tedious and really boring - and considering how many games are out there on handhelds with dynamic and exciting fights against big monsters, even ones that drag on for a long time, that's not a good sign. But admittedly, they might just look boring and might be really fun to play - I'll know myself in a couple of months. Depending on the direction they're going in though, I'd argue moving to next gen was probably a bigger priority. I've been thinking about this for a while, and seeing the positive reaction to EV on the PS4, I have to wonder if after this, the games might move exclusively to PS4 to fully take advantage of it while Valkyrie Drive could be intended to replace the Versus games on handhelds completely.

Why the fixation on Kagura and Naraku? They arent playable characters and their story doesnt mesh with the of the Versus series so why are they so important? The fact that many elements present on SK2 were incorporayed into Estival is clear sign that they arent ignoring Deep Crimson. And those numbers arent saying that the fans are THAT interested on nudity. Otherwise the PS4 sales would've been higher, while at the same time, the Vita sales weren't that different to SK2. And while together thay are higher, the investement was also bigger. Making the OVA and two LEs couldn't been cheap.

Just because the sales for EV as a whole was higher than SK2, doesn't mean the fans in general "want" mainly SV style gameplay and OVA. That's just an assumption.

I agee 60fps is huge for the series no way they can go back
