Well, this isn't really a criticism, so much as it is skepticism. In particular, I'm worried that we may not see a continuation of Deep Crimson's excellent gameplay foundation. It's like this. I love Deep Crimson. I think it's the best game of the series. Sadly, the popularity of the Versus series eclipsed it, and Estival Versus had far weaker team-based mechanics in comparison, and lacked a strong co-op feature. I like the Versus series quite a bit, but find it to be VERY overrated by the fanbase. A part of what drew me to Senran Kagura Burst was that at first glance, its gameplay resembled a more fast-paced, modernized version of classic arcade-style beat-em-ups like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe. But the Versus titles make me think more of Dynasty Warriors or Sengoku Basara, and I'm not a big fan of the more combo-oriented gameplay of those titles. I don't dislike them or anything, but I still prefer the style of the 3DS games. I feel that Deep Crimson was the best at capturing what made the classic beat-em-ups from the late '80s and early '90s great while still introducing some modern elements, and I want more than anything for that foundation to be expanded on and improved. However, judging from recent signs, I'm not exactly optimistic...
