Hello Everyone at Tamsoft, Marvelous and especially the lord of Life and Hometown himself, Takaki-sama. I as most will let you know, have been very vocal about my thoughts and opinions of the series so it is of great delight that I would even so much as have the potential to have any of my thoughts presented you you all, and for that I thank both you for your time and everyone at SIA for making this possible. You guys, all things considered do good work in trying to bring us Senran Kagura fans together and I am glad I found this place years ago.
To make a long story short, I first caught wind of the series with Senran Kagura Burst, and entertained it out of curiosity and partially as a joke, mostly because the idea and premise of the use of 3D as silly as it sounded was fascinating to me. So much so that i respected it a lot. And so I gave the game a shot. Having heard the game was a classic 2D side scrolling Beat-em-up, my attention was further grabbed, as it had been long since I had even seen one let alone played one. As I read up on the series, I learned hat the game was not just fanservice, and in fact was a legitimately good game that had merit beyond its aesthetic.
As I played the game (even though it did have a few rough edges from a technical perspective), I found a fun fanservice-y game that grabbed my initial attention, but what ultimately grabbed me what the world, story and especially the characters. The game genuinely felt like it was trying to be a good game as opposed to using fanservice as a substitute for a game. it felt like a game that was trying to use fanservice to make the aesthetic of the game as opposed to using it to substitute for being such, and I was blown away.
Previously, I was among the many that was under the false impression that fanservice could not exist as anything more than a substitute for quality, but this game completely changed my perspective on the matter. Fanservice, like anything else, is merely an aesthetic, a tool used to make the bigger project, and how one uses it is what makes or breaks it, which can be said for anything.
I say this as i wanna preface that having the series shy away from fanservice is the LAST thing I and i feel the vast majority of the fan base here in North America want. Far from it, as it wouldn't even be Senran Kagura if that happened.

It is because of this that I think i am pretty vocal about my worries about the series, as I am worried it is starting to stagnate.
Among all the aspects that I love about the games, the characters and world building easily make the top of it, and i can't help but feel that the characters are kind of stagnating or even devolving. The continuous adding of characters I feel is making it hard to develop each of the characters significantly if at all, and that is perhaps my biggest concern foremost with how the series has gone on. Some characters , since they cant have enough time to be developed get reduced to a joke or trope, and its even reached the point where some don't even do anything really. The Crimson Squad for example were basically irrelevant in Estival Versus and Hanzo Academy were rather sidelined.
I also feel like the gameplay is starting to weaken, as I found EV was a step backwards, it feeling much more clunky, stiff and slow compared to every entry before it.
Additionally, even though I understand the need to make a financial line, I don't particularly like the idea of making previously obtainable outfits DLC. DLC should really be extra things moreso than things we could get before. Senran Kagura 2 Deep Crimson is I think the best model for how DLC should be handled in the future.
Overall, I just have this weird feeling that the series is starting to make the rest of the games appeal fall to the backseat of the fanservice, which i feel goes against the spirit of what makes this series so remarkable to begin with. It proved that fanservice and quality aren't mutually exclusive and I feel ti would be a great disservice if it would end up falling to those very trappings in the end.
Lastly, on the overabundance of Yumi everyone goes on about. I am very open about not being particularly fond of the character, but I feel the issue is more that we aren't getting other characters more than anything. While I myself am a fan of Hikage (who i feel is rather shafted), Kafuru, and many others, I feel most people here would just be content to see anyone else really.
(P.S. It would be REALLY cool if we could get an custom outfit maker in later entries of the game similar to Animal Crossing series.)
As for New Wave, I just kind of miss when cards would have the girls in cool action poses or just going about their daily lives and being cute, funny, silly, angry, etc. The ones that brought out their personality more.
Overall, just keep up the good work and I hope to be a fan of the series going much further into the future!
Best regards.
