Ok, I just finished SK2 and it does add like a ton of subtext at the relationships of the original twelve:
-Asuka and Homura don't have a lot of moments but they do argue like a married couple and their interactions when paired makes blatantly obvious Homu's tsundere tendencies for Asuka.
-Ikaruga and Yomi are on the "would you guys make out already?" category.
- Hikage and Katsu are the most subdued oddly enough. Any subtext comes from shinobi room dialogue rather than story interactions.
- Yagyu and Mirai got a wonderfully developed relationship that isn't hard to read like something more than simply friendship (at leats on Mirai's side)
- Haruka and Hibari get a more satisfying and heartwarming relationship than they had on Versus, creating a very interesting dynamic.
- Dai and Rin is pretty much Asuka and Homura on steroids. Shame Rin's smitten with Kiriya, she would be perfect for Dai
- Kagura and Naraku dynamic is such that if one of them were male, they would be eloping to their love nest at the game's end.

There's been quite a lot of animes with the heroines becoming nothing but hollow because of the way they lust after the main guy. An all female/few male centered cast like Senran Kagura to me is easier to watch or get into.
The subtle hints of romantic feelings in the series is one of the reasons I like it so much.

I can't be the only one seeing Rin giving Hikage the ol' bedroom eyes here, can I?

I mean, based purely on the expressions, it looks more motherly to me, honestly.

Shipping has ruined me. Thanks to this snippet of dialogue I can't stop thinking that Dai is actually into submissive play with Rin as her domme

I love the yuri subext of the series. I'm happy with how the amount of yuri subtext has increased substantially over time. And as a big yuri fan, I have a ton of favorite pairings in the series, including New Wave. I'm interested in how Valkyrie Drive may effect the amount of yuri in Senran Kagura. VD's presence may keep SK on the subtext side of things, as VD is going full-on yuri and thus SK doesn't need to push things. Or, we may eventually see crossover games between the two series (which is likely because of the shared publisher and creator), thereby putting SK characters in a full-on yuri world; so we may see some kissing from Senran Kagura characters as a result, heh. In this hypothetical case, Asuka/Homura would be the first pair to be the in crossover. This actually sums up my feelings pretty well. As a big fan of yuri I really love the subtext as well, but I can understand how it may purely be fanservice (more particularly to those who are impartial to or dislike yuri) ~

Well, in a fun follow up to the nursing event in New Wave, now there's a nursee event - Kochou getting nursed Kanzaki, Hanabi by Renka, and Ikaruga by Katsuragi. Sure to be relevant to this thread's interests.

Sure to be relevant to this thread's interests. Indeed, this event well could be called "Yuri Subtext" I mean, just look at the cards! MORE DAIXRIN FUEL!!! It sucks we didn't got a Dai card but this isn't too shabby. Oh and it seems the bed here belongs to Asuka

Oh my. Anyhoo, I wanted to briefly pimp out this thread I made a while back for gathering New Wave story segments together in the hopes of a translation. While it'd obviously be a long shot, if anyone here has interest in this or knows anyone who would care, lemme know! I suspect, relevant to this thread's interests, there's plenty of character interaction unique to New Wave (and its cast) that we'll see more of through looking at this stuff, though there are also some events with the self-insert instructor involved, so just keep that in mind. Either way, I'd like to see what the New Waves all do beyond what we have, so, like I said, just let me know if there's interest worthy of the time it'd take.

I've seen screencaps of those scenes on many places but since they're either in japanese or utterly butchered by Google Translate I never gave them a lot of importance. Isn't like its events are being reflected on the console games anyways.
Thanks for the offer though

Hey, if nothing else, you can call it official fanart, right? Not how I'd put it personally, but whatever works - either way, enough people showed interest that Imma go through with what I can, so it's cool. Anyway! I'm going through stuff, and I don't think anyone mentioned this before? The card before this one shows it's Katsuragi doing the pictured "tricking" so she can get her "treat."

Since Hikage x Katsu is my otp I would love to see their relationship developed more It is kinda weird that Ikaruga with Katsuragi is getting more focus lately when they both seemed to fit pretty well with the Hebijo girls they were initially matched with, yeah.
