Yes, they still exist. They just aren't as fun anymore since they don't pick up in speed the more you do it. Also, since Burst had Weak aerials attacks as well as strong aerial attacks, and SV only has strong Aerials, there is no worry of messing up the rhythm of the aerial rave in SV.
In Burst, you has to press the combo button the for the right amount of inputs and then press the dash button to follow up. In SV, you can basically mash the button without worry and the window to follow up the aerial rave is so forgiving because it never picks up in momentum.
It was fun seeing how long I could keep it going in Burst. SV, I basically ended the Raves whenever possible. xP
Also @[Vitz!], I am glad to hear it. The prices here in Canada can be really obnoxious as well. If you are looking for any 3DS games however, I can PM you a couple of my favourites.
As for another suggestion for the series, how about mmm... I spent a good 7 minuted thinking of something and I couldn't. Maybe i need a break. xP

I have my 3DS for 3 years.
I have more than 30 games in my library (most of them are digital), but you can PM me with your favorites anyway.
I'm also without suggestions. Maybe someone should make a FPS fangame featuring Mirai as the main protagonist? It could even be a Doom mod, lol.

Well, if the floor's open, I've had a couple of ideas for spinoffs I'd like to see down the road. By spinoffs I mean like... reeeaaally spinoffy, completely unrelated/noncanon spinoffs, to clarify.
First, seeing as all the teams are so neatly divided into groups of five, I was thinking it might be fun to see them stick Hanzo in Super Sentai suits and then have all the other teams in kaijin and kaiju suits, with Dai naturally being the sixth ranger. You could even give them a robot out of their summon animals to fight "giant" versions of the enemy girls in arenas that look supersized. Bouncing forth... Dai-Hanzo-Oh!
Second, as cool as it is that we're doing ninjas in a modern day setting and all, I was wondering if Marvelous (and the fans for that matter) would be welcome to doing a "token high school AU" game, except since the characters are already school students, the equivalent here might be to have a game using the same character designs/personalities but set in historical Japan. Basically what I'm saying is I'd like to see a period piece using the Senran Kagura cast.

I'm kind of curious as to how the twins developed their saidist and masochistic tendencies. One possibility that came to mind recently is that maybe they could be some sort of coping mechanism they developed over time after they lost their older sister or something like that. When Ryoubi was about to shoot Miyabi, she recalls how she and Ryouna had been breathing and living for vengeance for so long. Maybe for Ryoubi, her sadistic tendencies came from just needing to vent her frustration and overall rage after what happened to Ryouki. For Ryouna, maybe she developed a need to literally embrace pain as a means to help her keep going on, and go through with avenging Ryouki. Even at the time, she admitted that she didn't like fighting for nothing but vengeance, so perhaps there were times where she would even force herself to stay on track. Saint Ryouna mentioned something in the Official Ryouna Thread about there being some sort of reading material where she's painted as a relatively darker character there than in the games. I'm kind of curious as to what it is and what it contains. Also, isn't Minori the only one among the Gessen students whose backstory of where she came from before Kurokage found her never really get elaborated on? I like her, though that seemed kind of odd to me. For a future game, it'd be nice if they could elaborate some more on her past when they get the chance.

While I'm definitely not against more focus on the two of them, I think some would argue that the twins just being that way rather than needing some trigger to be preferable. People in the S&M community have been dealing with the stereotype that to be that way you have to be "broken" for a long time now, from my understanding, when that doesn't actually have to be the case at all. That said, them taking it to the extremes we see them taking it to as a coping mechanism might make sense, though that could be said to be potentially true for anyone with anything they enjoy in that situation.
That's just my two cents on it though. Personally, I wouldn't be against it just being left as a character trait that doesn't need explanation and other aspects of their personalities fleshed out instead, but that's just me.

I remember someone mentioning that about the twins back on /skg/. I like to think that too. Someone there also mentioned the posibility of Hikage and Miyabi being long lost sister, which I like. Minori, and all the Gessen for the matter, have the same backstory. {Spoiler}Their parents died and Kurokage picked em up. I like to think that her childlike behavior is the result of her not wanting to have to deal with real issues. although that is a really s easy assumption to make on my part based only on her design, sorry about that..I would really like them to do more with the Gessen, I want to like them, but they are pretty boring characters. Maybe have a scene where Yozakura scolds Minori for misbehaving and makes her cry. Yozakura feels bad about it and goes to check up on her. Then she finds a drawing Minori did of them holding hands and a heart is on it. <3 Anything! Anything, just make 'em interact! xP

Anything, just make 'em interact! xP I kind of thought I was the only one who noticed how similar their eyes looked. Initially, I was probably gonna comment how they look too different to be sisters, but remembered that Ryoubi and Ryouna look really different from each other too, and they're twins. lol Well yeah, though like I said, they provided at least some details concerning them before meeting Kurokage, or where he found them, except Minori. For Murakumo, she lived in the slums with Yomi. For Yozakura, she lived in a household with 12 (or 13) siblings, who she helped care for until both their parents died, and she couldn't legally raise them herself due to being a minor. For Shiki, I think she mainly lived a rather wealthy lifestyle until her parents died in a car accident if I remember correctly. Yumi doesn't really have much, though it may be implied she lived a relatively normal life like Asuka until her parents were killed on a mission. There was a flashback that at least said that she first met Kurokage at her parents' funeral. With Minori, I don't think she got anything like that, or even where Kurokage found her. That seems more or less to be the case, given how after her defeat by Hibari in the Hanzo story of SV, she said something along the line that if people would simply play, then people wouldn't need to fight, and she may have also mentioned how her parents wouldn't have had to die if that were so. Minori's story in Bon Appetit had something along those lines, where Yozakura got mad at Minori for trying to make giant pancakes, and she ran off with Yozakura going after her. It was after their cook-off that they were able to make amends with each other. While it's true that it's simply a spinoff that I won't claim to be part of the canon, a scenario like that does sound like something that could actually happen in canon.

I know. Sometimes I get stuck, but since I'm very used to the bbcode used in forums I always find a way to avoid those problems. Anyway. Let's keep suggesting. I suggest a new game for the 3DS for the "main" series. But it has to be one that "closes" the franchise, so it can be come back again with other characters. This can give them more liberty to freely choose the console they will stick with for good to avoid any problems with console fidelity (since this is kind of a pain in this fandom). "main" series? It'd have to reuse a ton of assets. They wont put the bank on another 3DS title they did SK2 unless they can be assured of the sales. What do you mean close? They seemingly did that in SK2 and again handwave it out of the way in EV.

They seemingly did that in SK2 and again handwave it out of the way in EV. Marvelous isn't new to reussing assets (or any other company in the entertainment industrys), EV cribs a TON from both Versus and SK2 and another entry on the 3DS doesn't necessarily needs a huge budget either, they have the engine and the most important assets done. We're beating a dead horse here but, why handwave it when you can easily sweep it under the rug with the same effort? Plus, {Spoiler}The Mikaruga are STILL looking for Kagura so.... Now for actual suggestions, I don't think a game with an entirely new cast is something viable at this point. For one, people is just way too attached to the current cast. I mean, how many times the "SK2 DIDN'T SELL BECAUSE NO YUMI!!!!!" card has been played on this forum alone? Add that including a new cast implies time spent developing them and building relationship (I don't want another Gessen or Hebijo) making the risk of franchise fatigue greater. But the most important factor is the format of the game. THIS ISN'T A FIGHTING GAME so you can't mess significatively with the cast (and even the fighting games doesn't change their cast too much), you can add more characters but by doing that you will only fracture the fanbase and since this series is character driven you can only add so many characters before the writing quality comes crashing down. An spinoff though, is a great option to play with the idea. It would also serve to gauge interest and reactions with the fandom so if the reactions is positive you can then try to fade out the original cast. AND EVEN THEN, I see impossible for Asuka and Homura to be removed from the cast. They are our Nanoha and Fate or Sub Zero and Scorpion, they were the characters that shaped the franchise for better or worse and you can't have Senran Kagura without them.

If anything, I'd think a game with a new cast would be one way to stave off "franchise fatigue," though that's not to say it couldn't be a spinoff too. It gives people who are feeling the "fatigue" a break, whatever it is. If it does well, it could even turn into a subseries with SK in its own right (like Cinderella Girls is for idolm@ster I believe). If I may, also, I... don't get the fighting game analogy. To me, that's the one genre I think you absolutely can't/shouldn't change up casts, whereas most others are fair game (based on genre anyway), but you're saying the opposite it sounds like? At the risk of starting that conversation from the other night up again, I did offer a suggestion that would make adding more characters significantly less stressful on the writing quality. Just divide up the load instead of trying to cram everything together all in one thing. It's arguably simply just taking some of what Burst did well and extending it to the larger casts, which SV at least attempted (clearly to varying success, but eh). Anyway, tangentially related, here's an idea guys: What if they released some smaller, episodic games as download only games, then maybe bundled them together for a physical release? They could do a series of games that's just one team each this way and make it nice and cozy (and potentially more accessible to newcomers who could just pick up one to try it), and they could maybe make it like BA so each one links up and shares costumes and other content or something. For example, for you guys wanting Gessen focus, there would be a game just about them in this series, and since each one would be made to function as a single product (whereas all of SV's stories are part of its whole), the Gessen one wouldn't have question about continuity or whatever and the spotlight would be on them with no concessions made because there are other modes. And hey, how 'bout those spinoffs ideas I mentioned earlier, huh?

SK2 did not reuse much of any assets, Nan did all the CG art, they made 3 separate DLC stories, much more thought in the gameplay and a lot more. It'd be on a much smaller scale if they ever decide to do something again to test a 3DS game to sell. They'd have to do a dekamori and just make a small spinoff to reap nearly all asset usage. I'd like the games to get better in multiple accounts. EV suffered from I think a lot of reused assets. The models and fanservice are much better though, but a ton of assets were reused.
Highly disagree about not having Asuka or Homura not be in a game. I like them but the every game doesn't need to be crimson/hanzo. I dont see why you can't add other characters. Just use the game to develop them. Dont just squish them all in like a versus game. Asuka very little screentime in EV, it didnt really change anything. Less than the other Hanzos maybe. Submitting to Asuka and Homura have to be in every game severely limits the series and stories. Didnt Takaki say very recently that he'd like games with different characters? It's not like Asuka is Goku, where she needs to be in every inch of the series. They arent goku and vegeta, just a plain rivalry in a series with other characters that are also well liked.

Semi-off topic, but since this seems to be one of the main things dividing the thread, do you guys think maybe we should split this thread into two suggestion threads?
One could be based on suggestions for the direction we want the series to go in based on the foundation it has (I want focus on these characters, I want a game with this gameplay back), while the other focuses on broader suggestions of things we'd just like to see (I want a game about train ninjas, I want a game where Asuka is in the navy and Homura is a pirate, I think there should be a team of girls that are also dinosaurs).
Iunno if this makes sense, it only half-does to me and I wrote it, but between the overlap with the criticisms thread and how it seems like people are trying to have two different kinds of conversations here simultaneously, maybe it's an idea to consider?

To me, that's the one genre I think you absolutely can't/shouldn't change up casts, whereas most others are fair game (based on genre anyway), but you're saying the opposite it sounds like? Fighting games thrive by having HUGE casts and since the story is secondary at best for them you can put as many characters as you want without hurting other aspects from the game. According to the budget the cast can be periodically culled according to fan response or gradually fading out old characters. I don't know why you think fighters need a static cast when every succesful franchise keeps changing/increasing casts with each new iteration. SF4 was mostly newcomers, the KOF series has one of the biggest cast on the industry and Mortal Kombat has been known by shaking its cast with every new game. That ship already sailed. By putting all the characters on Versus the fanbase feels entitled to demand EVERY character possible on every new game (again see, the endless complaints against SK2). If Versus would've only had Gessen and Hebijo there wouldn't be any issue to change, split or outright discard the cast with each new game. That's a great idea, but the japanese aren't big on Digital. Even if the western fanbase were big enough to convince Takaki that digital is the way to go, there are too many issues (no western development team, coordination between branches, budget and so on) to make the effort worthwhile. Takaki did tried the idea with SK2 but well, just see the post following yours to see how well it went. They have the characters fully designed, game system well defined, graphic engine able to take the most advantage from the system and experience with the hardware. That cuts preduction costs considerably, allowing to a better distribution of the budget. And isn't like they have to improve massively the graphic aspect with every game. People praise EV non-stop but objetively is a pretty mediocre looking for a PS4 game, so as long the fans only care for pretty girls they would never have the need to deliver visual masterpieces like Mortal Kombat X or Arkham Knight. C'mon man, you can't be THIS dense. Who's saying they need to be the focus? Hell, when I said they needed all of their teams? Fate and Nanaho haven't been the focus of its franchise for YEARS and despite that they keep being an important element of it. Same with Scorpion and Sub Zero, they have been on the series since the beginning and only with MK9 they got prominent roles on the story, before that they were just background characters. The point is that they NEED to be on the games otherwise it won't be a true part of the series

I think Asuka and Homura are well liked but not enough to be institutions to the entire series that they need to be everywhere.

I think the point that was being made was that now they do have the assets from SK2 to use, so making a new 3DS game isn't the as huge a cash-sink you are making it out to be. As for the thing about Homura and Asuka, I think it is worth mentioning that I don't think all of our current characters can feasibly stick around for the main series and subseries for the rest of the franchises existence. The cast will inevitably hit a point where they reach the apex of there characters in terms of development. At that point, it makes zero sense to keep them around to do nothing. For now, I do agree that changing the cast is a very premature decision, but I figured it was worth pointing out that they are gonna have to eventually.Doing things like, introducing "Not-Asuka" and "Not-Homura" is probably a huge possibility later down the road however, who will have similarities but not be the same person. That being said, I do agree that the identity of the series is heavily in the hands of both Asuka and Homura at this point. To make another connection, Digimon, as series where every season, the cast is switched up, often in a completely different continuity, The main character from the First season Taichi is still very much regarded as the face of the franchise, more so his partner Agumon, and both are still regarded with respect in sub material such as spinoffs and media representation, and going forward, I think this will apply to all 4 of the leaders, but especially Asuka and Homura.
