So EV has almost been out a week in Japan. The sales figures of this game might mean something when looking towards the future of the series. Currently all we have to go on is that Takaki said about 90k physical units have been sold. This is the only SK game that has been released on two consoles, so I dont know how to read into that. We'll have to wait for actual numbers to come out this week because a lot of games came out last week in Japan. Where does this series continue from here on and what form?
Senran Kagura Burst (2012 / 3DS) : 70,569 / 94,344
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (2013 / PSV) : 91,639 / 152,611
Senran Kagura 2 (2014 / 3DS) : 47,325 / 69,323
This is physical copies on week 1/lifetime just for comparison.

Well that's good news, right? Hopefully Marvelous will be able to localize Estival Versus in the future.

From Dengeki, Media Create and Famitsu the breakdown is roughly 70/30 on Vita to PS4 sales of EV in Japan.
My guess is this means the series will not see another 3DS entry and another PSV/PS4 seems most likely in 2017. The PS4 will be the number one console and Vita will still be relevant in Japan and niche in the west. I would think 3DS successor be out by then as well.

The PS4 version definitely outsold expectations. Pretty good considering the big week Japan was having in terms of titles released. Ouch D5.

Pretty interesting that SK2 sold more than any individual version of Estival.

One important thing to keep in mind here is that this doesn't count any of the LEs, as Media Create separates things by SKU and those have different ones, or digital versions of the game. Considering the lowest selling game this week was 12K, that means there could be thousands of unaccounted for LEs that aren't on here. There are also other things that Media Create just doesn't track. If we want to really look at this stuff, then here's what we should be looking at: We know Estival altogether broke 100K sales and sold through most of its shipment. Pretty interesting that SK2 sold more than any individual version of Estival. Not necessarily. If SK2 had been on two consoles, say Wii U and 3DS, there probably would have been a divide there as well.

Because back when SK2 was released everyone said that Media's numbers included all the versions of the game.

I believe it includes LEs.
Mediacreate also only does physical sales. SV sold like 20k digital, I believe SK2 was 3K digital and Takaki said that EV sold at least 10K digital so far.

I don't know for certain, but I've always heard that about SKUs (hence why the console versions are represented by different numbers too). I do know that the Pokemon ORAS double pack was considered a separate release, for example, rather than just two bumps to ORAS instead of one. That could be another odd thing I guess - we'd probably have to go through to where something big enough that also had an LE might have actually had a chance of charting, but considering the "limited" part of an LE, I... don't know how we'd be able to find out for sure. But considering the numbers represented here, combined with the 10K digital sales, are still shy of the 100K it supposedly sold, I'm sort of inclined to think we're just missing a lot of LE sales from here is all - and that may well go for SK2 as well.

However, bundles are always considered separate. It was the same with Bon Appetit release back on November.
No, I'm convinced that Media Creates counts every physical presentation of a game.
No idea of where Takaki did got his numbers though.

I just checked on some sites, and they do have different barcode numbers and stuff between the LE and regular game. I doubt either version's LE individually broke 12K, but either being under it does account for a lot of the numbers. I'd say it's safe to say they're separate.

EV is third on PS4 shop and second on vita shop. Glad to see it has a good presence digitally.
