They also technically had 3 games in the past year if you count Dekamori. Hopefully, just to avoid franchise fatigue, there is not another Senran Kagura game until Late 2016 or early to mid 2017.

Dekamori is the "Bon" the italicized part is probably referring to.
It also sounds like the suits didn't have high expectations for the 3DS game but had much higher expectations for the Vita ones after SV, probably choosing to conveniently ignore the factors that led to those boosted sales that weren't present this time around. I'd have to guess Taka's got a more realistic view of things while the suits are only looking at the numbers.
That's just my speculation anyway.

SV literally had a perfect storm going for it. Burst and SV were basically console launch titles in a way. Not to mention SK2 was overpriced.

What Takaki thinks and what marvelous thinks are 2 very different things though. Can someone find the article? I can't type/translate from japanese and don't know how/where to find it. pdf.irpocket.com/C7844/Q8aV/Iw3d/zcPs.pdfFound this one on a neogaf forum: www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=163631647What people are saying is that EV didn't meet expectations but SK2 sales were really underwhelming for Marvelous. Basically if SK2 doesn't see some Western success you can kiss the main series on the 3DS goodbye. :/ Wait, if EV didn't met expectations, wouldn't the concern be for the series as a whole, not just the 3DS games? I think that would depend on just how far off from expectations it was and, if it was really far off, how much power Taka has at Marvelous to get another try. I don't think splitting the consumer base helped much - if the Vita price cut is what led to SV's success, it means at least some people wouldn't have gotten it without that. Applying that here, current fans might not find the PS4 worth getting just yet at its price with the PS3 and Vita still getting games, but also might not want to get the "inferior" version. That really should be something they took into account though.
If nothing else, it seems to have met Taka's expectations at least, but that might not matter if no one will provide him the support to try again.

I don't think multiplatting hurt it at all

Considering the Ps4 version far outsold the Vita version, and it in turn sold less than even Sk2, i don't think it had much to do with it, other than them having to fund 2 different games essentially. i think it is even safe to assume that a good amount of people that got the vita game, got both versions.
...sigh... Well I guess we wait now. Before, I thought the wait would be for the next entry, which would be much farther down the road since the series is kind of over saturated at the moment, but now I have concerns with whether or not that next entry will even surface...
Maybe I am being a bit premature though. Just gonna have to sit back and watch.

Wait, didn't the Vita version outsell the PS4 rather than the other way around? And it may not have been by a lot, but I don't think it's strange to think that sales were lost here and there due to it. I don't think multiplatting hurt it at all You've seen how people are looking at the games individually instead of as one. That messed up perception alone can't help things.

From the sales charts people have been posting here have said, yeah. While the numbers may vary, all (or at least most) of them seem to show the Vita version having the most copies sold.

I don't know what crazy world you live in where people consider a handheld version the same game as the console release. it's not like they released an Xbox version or something.

Because the PS4 game is a vita port. That's why it runs at 60fps.

It's a multiplatform release. One is slightly less in some areas due to platform, but that's just as true for PS3/PS4 releases now too. You do take how they sold separately into consideration for some things, like what's more popular for fans for example, but as far as "how much EV sold," it's both. They're not two different games like Smash 3DS/Wii U.

I think again though it's important to consider what other games were released during that week. Also despite Pirate Warriors being a successful franchise the sales for 3 are pretty terrible for them with the PS3 version saving them from what could've been a complete failure.
Look at the first week for Pirate Warriors 2: PS3 - 269,035 Vita - 54,509
And people complained that those numbers were low, selling only half as many copies as the first one!

2012 and 2013 were good for the company due to SV and the Harvest moon game. 2014 they seemed to take hits, from that cancelled 3DS game too. While EV and BA were profitable, didnt meet expectations. What expectations? Were they expecting it to pull them more into the black or hit more than SV.
On localization, I imagine what they'll do is make the vita version digital while the PS4 edition gets some sort of physical release. I dont know how profitable that PC port stuff is. I wonder if they ever thought of porting Burst or SK2 digitally.
^kaizoku musou is a sign of franchise fatique. It's not like it takes a ton of money to make. They were able to port it to 3 systems. That's still a profit.
