I dont think the series has been handled poorly. I doubt splitting a PS4 and Vita port did anything bad. It was probably beneficial. The mobile section of Marvelous is doing very well. Compare today's New Wave Art with last years and it feels like so much more is put into that. I guess NW is doing great. They just cant milk a IP to death. SK2 and EV were released close to each other and another game should wait a little bit. At least 1.5 years. Marv seems to be overestimating the power of their own IPs due to their good fortune during the few good years from 2011 to 2013. . new wave has to be a big hit the art is really good now I guess hoppy was right mobile future it is.

Which no offense to those who like New Wave but mobile games are on a whole other (lower) level than handhelds/consoles currently. This may change in 3-5 years but right now it's not good. For example Kingdom Hearts X is getting an international release for mobile. Granted they've made mobile games before but it looks TERRIBLE (sets the series back 10 years imo) and would flop if it were ever on the 3DS or Vita yet because you can play it on your smartphone everyone's freaking out. This is where their money for a KH portable has been going to. Forget about amazing games like PSP's Birth By Sleep or 3DS's Dream Drop Distance. KH3 will be their big console release and then mobile from here on out for handheld games.

Mobile games are king on Japan though. To be fair I get the appeal. More convenient when traveling, if you're the kind of person who's self conscious, playing handhelds in public past a certain age could make you more uncomfortable at least in western society (which is ironic considering how frequently I see other people playing games on their phone). Then there's the ability to always have an internet connection ready wherever you are. Also saves the need to buy a handheld. Still though mobile gaming is too basic and no where near the quality of Vita and even many 3DS games. Not to mention using a touch screen for the controls is a real pain especially for racing games.

Takaki tweeted pic related. This is the top 20 most bought consumer games focused/centered on bishoujo girls in the month of july. IA/VT came first of course since it released in July but here you can see the LTD of Senran Kagura 2 and Estival Versus (vita). SK2 about 78k, EV (vita) about 65k. The PS4 one probably doesnt have as much legs since the LEs with Yumi are all up and the people who wanted it in Japan got it week one/two since home consoles are week in Japan. Good to know people are still buying. It's not a towering list. I mean, I dont know why Fire Emblem Fates isnt included here. It's centered and caters around more to bishoujo girl fanboys than sword art online. And IA/VT isnt really a game with beautiful girls. The vocaloid is a mascot but I dont see her that much. 1. IA/VT 2. Makai Shin Trillion 3. Date a Live

From what I've heard, Makai Shin Trillion is actually a pretty good game. IF and Compile Heart must have put in a good amount of effort. Good thing they delayed it.
